No Time For Explanations ( Alexis/Gabriel/Zeke )

Dang it! She found him, though as he looked at her, feeling her wipe away his tears he sniffled softly....Her words more than understood as he pulled his thumb from his mouth and mumbled soflty.

"Mama.....Unky Gabe....Eke sad.."

He then saw that hand and the offer to get up was heard.....A little sniffle as he moved and crawled his way, with dino in tow, toward her, little arms shooting out and wrapping about her neck as best as he could manage.

Yesh!

If she did, then he would hide his face against the nape of her neck and curl up in her arms, his thumb going back in his mouth as he sniffled yet again.

He could not help it...he was very young to have to deal with such things, but then he was born into a family that practically demanded he grow up and fast.

At least that was what Daddy kept telling him.....

"Mama.....Unky Gabe....Eke sad.."

Alexis watched as he made his way towards her and felt his small arms wrap around her neck. It felt comforting having a child hug you in that way. Yup..melted her heart. She placed her right forearm strategically in a position where her hand would be pressed to his back and her arm would be used as a seat. Her left hand would hold his head brushing his soft hair.

Zeke's tears were felt on her neck as she hushed him and paced around the living room...rocking him in a soothing and comforting manner. The kid had got to be tired for being up so late.... so she was hoping that she could just cradle him to sleep and just put him down for a nap in hers and Gabriel's bed.

"Unkle Gabe will be back..." she said in a hushed whisper that wouldn't stir up any excess energy. Alexis stopped walking and looked out the window. The sun was already coming up and she was still worried. If Gabriel was running head first into some shoot out he was going to be in big shit.....well knowing Alexis he would be in big shit even if he didn't run head first into a shoot out.

Now all she could do was Wait..and rock baby Zeke to sleep.

[Ezekial Seran]

Zeke felt the way she rocked him and though it was not the same emotional hum he got from Mommy or the same heartbeat and soothing voice, it was enough for the tired baby to start to drift off....

Closing his eyes he continued to suck his thumb, his other little hand lightly gripping Aunt Lexi as she spoke about Uncle Gabe coming back.

He just didnt like the feelings....She was unsure...Not good....Not good at all.....Worried...bad to......

Yet he was too tired to think on it too much. His body growing a bit heavier as he started to drift off, that suction on his thumb growing lighter, though he continued in to do so even after sleep had over taken him.

His little body curled up snuggly against her and his mind finally relaxing after the mental stress it had been under since Mommy picked him up this morning.........

[Gabriel Seran]

Furiously pacing himself at high speeds outside Gabriel glared between the phone and the road accelerating then slowing to match with oncoming traffic and avoid ending himself here like this. It was no way to see him clearly furious that Kevala had the guile to leave both her son and this world behind like such. He saw it as cowardly now, not redeeming. Pressing on the Gas swiftly he'd spin round town fueled more by his apt of anger as opposed to his reasonable logic. Where was she could she be saved now whats happening. this frame of thought continued a few hours till his mind settled and he realized he was clearly being an idiot.

*3 hours later*

The tired worn down frame of Gabriel Seran trotted to the front door. A heavy sigh met the door as he pushed his way in trying to be as quiet as possible when he'd met Alexis there. His somber expression knowing he was clearly out of line and she deserved an apology.

"I'm sorry Alexis, I lost my head..." He didn't know what else to say hanging his head down low enough not to make eye contact with her. Twas a new revelation letting her win. Guess they'd been together just long enough.

.:Several Days Later:.

It had been several days since she had sent that message using Nathaniel's phone. Sure, she was okay now, for the most part, but then she was still hurting inside and her recent fight with Jack before coming here had not helped. Fresh wounds now covering her stomach and her ribs.

Fuck that hurt!!

As she pulled up to the house, she turned off the engine and laid her head against the steering wheel. Why did she have this sick feeling in her stomach that all hell was about to be unleashed upon her?

Well it didn't matter. She was just gonna have to play the part of the girl she used to be, pretend to be all nice and shit and get her fucking kid back.

Of all people she didnt want to know about her recent change in personality....Gabriel was at the top of the list.

Not that he could really do anything but beat her ass about it, but still....yeah just not something she wanted to deal with.

Climbing out of the SUV she shut the door with her foot. Dressed in a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, she had gone home to change before coming here, yet she was slower than usual, and her movements just seemed slightly off.

Going to the door, she knocked loud enough she was sure she would be heard......Already her mind working on locking down the shit she wanted kept private and putting on the "happy" face that so many were used to seeing.

Alexis put the baby to sleep in their bed and returned to the kitchen. She grabbed herself a cup of coffee and sat at the island on one of the large stools. Just because Alexis couldn't ever get any sleep didn't mean she got tired... or stressed from it. Her emerald hues stared at the whole Gabriel had made as her fingers traced along the rim of the mug.

She heard the door open... obviously Gabriel trying to be quiet. She heard him enter the kitchen and she didn't even bother to look at him. Her worries were put to rest because if he was hurt he wouldn't have been home... so now she wouldn't feel guilty if she gave him the silent treatment.

"I'm sorry Alexis, I lost my head..."

With a small shake of her head her eyes remained on the damage done to their plates... all the blood.

"Didn't even notice." her voice was steady and calm....too calm. Her hand grabbed the handle of the mug and brought it to her lips. She blew at the steam and tipped the mug so the coffee would pour into her mouth.

"When are you going to let her go?" is what she wanted to ask... but it would only be a waste of breath. He would give her the same excuse as always. She wanted to trust him... but being someone who can't be trusted..it was hard for her to return the favor.

"I'm going to wake Zeke up..He's been sleeping for around I don't know...two hours." she hopped off the stool and walked passed Gabe without even glancing at him. She would enter the room and lean in to the sleeping child. "Rise and shine, sweetheart." her hand would brush through his hair to wake him up in a relaxing way rather than poking him.

.:Several Days Later:.

Alexis was getting a hang of the baby...whether the baby liked her or not she was in love with the kid! It filled something..some form of happiness inside her... probably enjoying a moment that would only be shared between a mother and their child..and yeah she was full aware she would never compare to the real mother of a child.. but the time with Zeke just filled her with the euphoria.

Alexis was now running around the house with him on her shoulders. Playing with a baby was a hell of a lot better than playing with a dog! She loved Odie don't get her wrong.... but babies?!

She heard the door knock and in an excited tone she asked Zeke "Who's that?" she would run over to the door. "Lets go see!" she opened the door and when she saw who it was her smile disappeared. "Oh." she would reach up to grab Zeke and set him down on the ground...He was gonna want to run to his mom.

Damn she was just getting used to him!!!

"Gabe...Kev's here....Grab Zekes stuff." she would then look at Zeke and smile. Blowing him a kiss she would wave bye. "Bye bye Zeke!" she would look back up at Kev. "He behaved." she would simply put and leave the entrance to let Gabriel deal with the rest of it.

[Ezekial Seran]

Zeke had been playing, just having a good ole time when suddenly he felt it, that familiar feeling he got when Mommy was around. Instantly his eyes lit up as he heard the knock at the door and then was hoisted up and carried.

A giggle escaping despite knowing who it was on the other side of the door.....and being excited about such.

Then came the opening of the door and sure enough there was Mommy...Feeling himself moved and set down on the ground, he looked between Mommy and Aunt Lexi.....

A confusion of emotions coming from both....Mommy was off..not the same....and Aunt Lexi seemed saddish..... disappointed?

Maybe....

With a little huff he moved and wrapped his little arms around Aunt Lexi's legs offering a super, make it all betters hug....cause he was just that awesome...

"Eke luff oos"

Yesh....Too cute....But what could he say, he loved the woman who had been taking care of him non stop for such a LOOOONG time in his book........

Then with a little smile on his lips he turned and face Mommy, arms shooting up as he bounced happily.

"Mamama Up! Up!"

[Gabriel Seran]

"Didn't even notice."

Ouch the sting hurt him more than any punch could muster, Alexis had a way of doing that to people very well. Probably to the point she needn't even gather a physical force rather crush her opponents mentally and with such skill he was envious of it. But still getting back onto point Gabriel looked up to see her walk off to tend to Zeke. To which Gabriel could only reply with somber stupidity on his own behalf. Guess tonight was a couch night. Nodding to himself he walked off to the couch where he'd manage to get a few hours of sleep before dawn.

*Several Days Later*

"Gabe...Kev's here....Grab Zekes stuff."

Oh no, she wasn't getting out of it that easily. Gabriel remembered very clearly what'd happened before. A few days back, the stupid move she'd pulled on them leaving Zeke to fend the world for himself by nothing more than adoptive parents. It was a cruel effect that she thrust in.

Peeling around the corner quickly as to make this fast and furious; he may have been good guy with the cookies but now was time to play the mood spoiler. Yup time to play concerned Uncle Gabriel who ruined a good reunion.

Approaching behind Lexi he'd kiss the back of her head as a greeting not to interrupt their parting. "Lexi would you mind keeping Zeke inside for a moment?" His eyes narrowing on Kev.

With that he'd peel outside grabbing Kevala by the arm to tug her outside before closing the door quickly and carefully not to hit Zeke in any way. Once outside and he was sure there was no interference he'd punch her sharply in the gut. Kind of a way of saying "hi" angrily.

"Do you have any idea what you nearly did? Not just to us but to Zeke?" Gabriel fumed this was a compilation of a few days long speech that'd been working out in his head.

"He'd be without his mother and undoubtedly his father, you know what that can do to a child? Feeling abandoned? You have responsibilities now you can't go putting yourself into harms way all the time. And I swear to God if you pull another stunt like this we'll be taking Zeke away is that understood?"

His voice livid, cheeks flushed with a fiery passion. Gabriel had never been this serious about something in his life.

She noted the way Zeke acted around Lex and though she was happy about that, she knew that Lex still did not like her. Then just like that, there he was.....

Closing her eyes as she drew in a calming breath. This was gonna be fun.......

Not reaching for her son, knowing it would do no good, she heard the door shut and her arm being wrenched up as he drug her off and away from the house.....

Before she could even begin to try and explain his fist collided with her stomach, an already tender spot, and caused her to stumble back and fall onto her ass.

A light growl escaping her as she struggled to behave herself and try and remain as calm as possible.

Then he spoke, his rant being just the thing to make her anger rise all the more. Daring to threaten to take away HER son? Asshole!

Pushing her hands against the ground she rose to stand, shaking her head as she let him finish and then sighing softly.

"Condemn me for being what you taught me to be huh? Well for your information I had to go save Mischa's ass from being slaughtered in her hunt for vengeance."

She spread her feet, her fists balling up at her sides as she shot those icy hues upward finally toward his own.

"I was not going to stand by while she went after your cousins on her own. You know what they are.....were capable of...."

ZEKE SAID HE LOVED ME?!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! KEWWWWWT!

Just as she was expecting the baby and Kev to take their leave....Zeke was back in her possession and the door was closed between them, Gabriel and Kevala.

Hmmm indeed!

She looked down at Zeke and perked one eyebrow before prancing to the window to check was was going on.

Not like she was scared he was going to do something like kiss her or anything!

Though instead of what she was hoping what wasn't happening(fucked up sentence? yes I think so!).. Kevala was punched in the stomach and she fell to the ground. She couldn't read what they were saying on their lips...but man was Gabriel ever pissed. Alexis cringed and stepped away from the window so she wouldn't be spotted. Now one would think "Thank God I never pissed him off that much" but of course she was thinking "how come I can't push his buttons like she can?"

She looked at Zeke with a smile that was trying to hide it all.

"How about I put on some cartoons for you?" she would go and pick him up whether or not he had any say and would stick him in a baby play pen she picked up during his stay. She placed it in front of the T.V and played it a bit loud just to wash out any bickering outside.. then she would hand him a Tim Tam... a great Australian cookie that she had been feeding him and getting him addicted to during his visit.

Now that she forced him into an occupation she would get her shoes on and would join the two outside.

"What the fuck is going on? Crikey, the kid has gone through a shit load no thanks to Kevala...now you want to add on to that Gabe? Jesus Christ!"

As anyone who knew Alexis....would know that she wasn't big on fighting...So yeah....she was sticking up for Kevala.... but at the same time she was going to get Gabriel to let go of the girl so she wouldn't have such a huge impact on his life... Cause she was selfish and she wanted to be the only one who effected him any such a massive way.

[Ezekial Seran]

Suddenly he was back in Aunty Lexi's arms, the door shut and a whimper escaping him. He had a feeling this was going to be bad...Not because of what he felt from Uncle Gabe but the spike of worry that had filled Mommy as the door shut.

Then they were at the window, and though she may have been TRYING to keep him from seeing.......He saw!!

Another whimper, this time tears filling his eyes as he was hoisted off to watch the picture box......Once more placed in the blasted cage.

NUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!

Before he could really protest though, she was gone......a look about the room making him stop for a moment and think about the situation he found himself in.

He was alone!!!!!!! Woot!!!

See, ever since the day at the park, when the man had hit Mommy.....He had been plotting his escape from evil cages...Because in his little mind....Zekey could make it all betters!!!

Now, with nobody there to stop him like Mommy, Daddy and Uncle Gabe did, he was free to try his theory......

See these things were built with no escape, unless of course you grabbed the edge and walked up the side til you could get your leg over........

It took him about three tries....But in the end he was balanced on top.....BUT the problem was....How to get down?

It took him another two minutes to figure that one out, and by the time he did, he figured ....just let go!

Soooooo.....he did...Falling flat on his butt!!

Though the sound of the picture box easily muffled his sounds of agony......

Was he hurt? Not really...The diaper took up most of the blow...But he was an attention whore at times and yeah...Old habits die hard......

Though by the time he got done with that.....the thought of cookies came to mind......(Short attention span...wherever did he get that from?)

Sooo off to the cookie place!!!

This task not so hard...seeing as the cookies had been left on the counter...and Zeke had already figured out how to get them.....

CHAIR!!!!!!!!

SO with a bit of effort he pushed the chair to the counter, again taking several tries to get up there, but when he did, it was instantly time to nom out....

Sitting down in the chair, opening the cookies and pigging out....

*OMNOMNOMNOMNOM......DROOL.......Hiccup....Drool....Omnomnom*

By the time these people noticed her was gone he would have nommed all the cookies!!!!!!!!!!

Gabriel was beyond furious at this point, his hands shaking following the punch something that'd never come over him ever before, he didn't want to hurt them, to loose his mind in front of the one's he loved be it Alexis, Kevala, or Zeke he didn't want this upon them it was all out of necessity. His whole body shivered with tremors of anger as he worked through whatever means to contain it. Eyes glowing that passionate Emerald glow as he bit down harshly unto his teeth.

"IT DOES'NT MATTER!" Gabriel's hand would swipe as if to wipe away all of what she'd said before and cut her off there. It would be best for Kevala if she shut up now. Never was he the one to demean her or cut her off, knock her down a peg but that was before now things were very different.

"You have responsibilities now, as a mother. You need to understand that it is Zeke that comes first now, and don't you dare rectify this by playing my choices against me they were wrong."

Gabriel's shaking stopped as the realization hit hard hurting almost as it crippled the weight of his entire life before him feeling powerless to his own realizations.

"Its not strength to destroy and prove you're better, to strike vengeance, those are just ways of being weaker, to be strong you have to solve and build. You have that now right in front of you and thats what you're willing to waste over little spats that mean nothing. Kevala I'll only say this once but right now I pity you."

His voice lacked the fire it had before, Gabriel didn't really mean it, but it was a word said out of anguish. And fear for his nephew. Fear for his family and way of being, even the fear for Kevala's life, despite her position now she was part of the family in a way. Ever since bringing Zeke into their lives.

"What the fuck is going on? Crikey, the kid has gone through a shit load no thanks to Kevala...now you want to add on to that Gabe? Jesus Christ!"

Gabriel went silent. His eyes darkened by a layer of shame, he could have handled this better, had he been ready. No he hadn't been ready, control or not he'd let things get the better of him. He'd grow from this.

"I'm sorry Lexi..." His eyes turning towards Kevala only briefly, "Now come inside...say hi to Zeke." Gabriel's voice was calm now the anger settled as he turned past Alexis and went back inside eyes watching Zeke as he quickly scaled the cookie jar drooling over himself. A quick burst of speed and Gabriel would grab him and settle the boy down. A low whisper ushered, "We keep this between us okay."

Kevala stood there, noting the way he cut her off, and yelled at her, causing her to lower her eyes and wince slightly. Fuck why in the hell did THIS man get that kind of reaction from her? No other ever had or ever would, she would rather die trying than let them affect her in such a way.....

But was it over?

Of course not....And as his words continued to spill forth she felt the steady, dull throb of pain swelling in her chest......Always the one to know how to bury the knife deep into her was he not?

Then, as if that had not been bad enough, his final words were just a twisting of the blade....Enough so to make her step back....Eyes closing as she bit her lower lip to lock down all her emotions....

She didnt say anything....She didnt have to...For thankfully Lex showed up to put a stop to the whole thing....

As the two spoke, Kev turned her head, hand coming up to wipe her eyes before she heard him once more speaking to her.....

Fine...She would go in, get her son and leave....

Unless of course he felt the need to further make her feel as worthless as she did right now.....Never could tell with him.

Either way, she was tired, she hurt, and she wanted to go home with her son and curl up in bed for the rest of her fucking life. She had enough shit going on.......Now this?

Yeah, it was the perfect end to a perfect fucking week....

Following behind, at a decent enough distance to suit her, she would enter the house, letting them find her son as she set about gathering his stuff she found laid about....Shoving it into the bag as quickly as she could manage......

Finally, once she had the bag strapped over her shoulder, she went to find them, locking down her emotions and offering up the friendly, loving Mommy smile.....

"Theres my big boy....You ready to go?"

She moved over to where Gabriel had him, a short glance cast to the man who sufficiently was able to destroy everything she was better than anyone else.....Hands reaching out and lifting up Zeke to hold him against her......

"Thank you both...."

When she spoke she made certain her eyes were on Lexi.....Not daring to look at him.......

She just had to get out of here.....every breath feeling heavier than the last......It was just way too much.....

"If you wish to see him Lex, though I know you hate me....You may do so whenever you wish..."

It was the least she could do........

She nodded towards Gabe to his apology... though it shouldn't have been towards her.... if anything poor Zeke needed some sort of explanation...whether he understood or not...

Alexis watched as Kevala sheepishly walked into the house and then quickly started picking up Zeke's stuff. She couldn't help but notice Zeke was no longer where she had left him and of course she felt worry and then Gabriel came around the corner with him. Alexis picked up his dino and Kevala held Zeke tightly.

"Thank you both...."

Her emerald hues stared into Kevala's as she thanked them. She was putting all her focus into her rather than Gabriel. She could see the pain he was able to bestow upon her. Yeah it pissed her off this girl was still floating around and still had feelings for him...well she assumed they were feelings... but she still felt bad... Gabe was able to hurt a girl pretty bad without realizing it. Alexis slid the the Dino into the bag and nodded.

"If you wish to see him Lex, though I know you hate me....You may do so whenever you wish..."

Of course she couldn't help but have her lips curl into a small and excited smile. She didn't say anything to object to the statement of her feelings toward Kevala...but rather focused on the fact the girl would actually let her visit Zeke.

"I would love to." she would say before looping an arm around Gabriel "Take care..."

Zeke had pretty much nommed himself into a tummy ache by the time he was caught, smacking his lips together to get down the last bit of cooking as Uncle Gabe cleaned him up...

Then came the whisper, and before he could even realize what it said, he heard that familiar voice....Oh she was okay!!?

His little hands grabbing for her as he struggled away from Uncle Gabe....cause yeah, he had seen it and was not too sure at the moment what to think.....

Casting a look to Aunt Lex he smiled, that cute little smile he was famous for and clapped his hands...He could tell she was happy with something Mommy said so he was happy....

Yet when he turned back to Uncle Gabe he gave him a look of both worry and of confusion......Why had he been so mean to Mommy? It was not that he was angry or holding it against the guy...just....he didnt understand...which was the nature of kids.....

So, given he could not really ask...he just buried his face against his Mommy in a shy manner, and gripped onto her shirt, holding to her with everything he had........

His little hand reaching down and popping the binky into his mouth for comfort.......Maybe some day he would get it.....But for now he was just exhausted and happy to be back with his Mommy......
