Working at the library... It sounded interesting because of the books, but boring because of the silence. Hilde couldn't help but feel that Shane wasn't the type to live a boring life. There had to be something more, perhaps it was just a carving for adventure. Who knew~? "Better than nothing, right?" She'd smile and turn her attention to the window.
Noting they were in one heck of a car, she wondered how someone could afford it. Since where she was from prior to moving to California.. People her age drove their parents cars, or beaten up junk cars. Buuuttt then again, they were in California, plain and simple.... It was the only answer there could be.
"Me?"
What had she been up too?
School, homework, supernatural, comic books, movies, walking around, the occasional time with friends, the run in with Mischa, the metal heads, and the fruit stand. Hmmmmmm.
"Oh you know. The normal. Run ins with strangers, accidentally crashing a rickshaw into fruit stand, comic books, annnndddd school. The normal things. ha ha ha." It was the best she could come up with. She didn't want to seem too boring. Although, everything she had said, actually happened. Believe it or not.

I smiled at what she said, "Glad to see you've kept yourself busy with out old me around." I said looking forward and directing us the best I could. The next ten minutes or so I tried to start small talk but I couldn't think of anything, so I decided to see where she'll go, "So...what kind of art you like?"

"What? You don't remember when we crashed the rickshaw? Geezzz Shane! You must have hit the stand too hard~" Hilde laughed as she looked in his direction, a bright smile spread across her face. It was her attempt to make him smile or show some form of joy. She wished nothing more to see her friend happy, which could sometimes could prove to be difficult.
"The better question is. what kind don't I like?" She'd smile and chuckle once more. "I liikkeee most art. It doesn't matter what kind, as long as it has feeling in it. You know?"
I can't waiiiittt~~~~

"I was there? You sure?" He asked with a questionable smirk. "Wow, the things you get me to do." I added with a chuckle. I drove us in front of a museum where someone was waiting to there at the curb, 'Nice...a valet.' I thought as I got out and walked to the other side and opened her door, "I hope you enjoy it." I said. I actually did...strange enough for me.

It worked! The fact he was playing along made her really happy. She'd smile at him, her eyes squinted a little before she closed her eyes. "If you remember, we collided while chasing my duck. We rolled down a hill, landed in an unmanned rickshaw. and yeah. It was crazy." Hilde smiled and looked down her at her lap, hoping she wasn't going to embarrass him.
They'd pull up to the curb and once again he'd open the door for her. She'd get out and smile at him. Clinging to his arm after he had closed the door. Perhaps he was invading his personal space, but she just didn't want to lose him in the crowd. It wouldn't be good to be lost in a crowd of strangers. "I'm sure I will. You enjoy yourself too Shane." Smile smile :'3

"As long as I got someone in my corner, I'm sure I'll do fine." I said with a wink as we walked in. Immediately I was greeted with the smell of wine and assorted foods; the museum totally phoned in the food. A guy wearing a tux came up to us and asked, "Good evening, Can you tell me your name please?" He asked with that damn pretentious tone people used where they pretended to care. "Shane Knight," I said, "I'm standing in for Carlton Brent." He looked at a clipboard he hid behind his back and looked, "Ah, there you are." He said, and moved to the side to let us in, I tensed slightly when I noticed his eyes lingering on Hilde. "It's good to know people." I said as I tried to hide my unexplainable urge to make sure he knew the propper places to look.

Hilde felt a little awkward. Perhaps she was wrong in dressing as she normally did. Well, her form of formal. She didn't own any normal form wear. Perhaps the doorman was annoyed with her? Her grip on his arm tightened a little as she followed Shane indoors. It was a little difficult to ask him about her clothes, especially since it was something out of her norm. She never really cared about what she wore, but when she was being given the eye... She couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.
"Is it because of how I am dressed? I'm sorry to embarrass you Shane." Her hand loosened a little. There was a smile on her face, but she was trying very hard to fake it. "Sorry again."smile smile.
For a while ti was difficult to take in the art and all the beauty that was around her. She was a little out of sorts about her outfit choice. It wouldn't be long before she bounced back. She always did.

"Please, if these people knew me you would be the last thing in the world that would annoy me. Just that guy, he...uh...He did that fake caring voice. I hate those voices." I said as best I could to make it sound believeable. The art was good; been awhile since I dealt with this kind of stuff, these kind of arts wasn't my bag, but I appreciate it as much as the next guy. I noticed some of the other people giving Hilde the eye and tried to do a reassuring smile...why am I smiling?

She couldn't help but laugh, this time flashing him a genuine smile. Her red blue eyes, scanned the walls. She let go of his arm and looked at him smiling, "I'll be right back!" She'd wander off to the wall and inspect some paintings with a closer eye. Her expression changed as she looked at the different contrasts of warm and cool, with the image. It was just so enchanting. After a few minutes of absorbing the image and burning it into her memory she'd wander to the next one, scanning the crowd to see Shane. She didn't want to completely lose track of him.
She knew all too well that her actions were rude. After all, he had invited her, yet she parted and started examining the art. Was she wrong? Plus there was that horrible feeling that someone was watching her. Not fun at all! Hilde turned back to the painting and once again found herself lost in the image.

"So exquisite! The colours, everything!"
Yes, Hilde knew all too well that if you talked to yourself, you were obviously weird. IT DIDN'T MATTER! Artists were weird... Eccentric even! Why couldn't she who admired the art be a little odd?

"I'm glad to see that someone can finally appreciate these pieces as they're supposed to be." A lightly accented voice said from behind Hilde. Behind her was a tall man with jet black hair, a thin goatee and steel grey eyes. He wore a black suit with no tie and a ciante in his hand. "I never understand why people keep so listless at these events."
-Shane-
I kept looking around for this Strovynsk guy and Hilde. Well, Hilde more than the other guy. 'Wait...who's that?'

"It's a shame people don't fully appreciate them. Although.. I'm sure they care in their own way, yes?" Her tone was friendly, it was naturally how she acted. Stranger or not. Turning, she'd look at him with a smile. She didn't recognize the fellow, but he was a little scary... Even if he didn't sound threatening. Then again, that was just Hilde.
"Oh." She had no idea what to say. Looking down, then at the wall, then back at the stranger. "This is my first time at such an event. My friend Shane brought me." Hilde smiled. In her mind the question wandered in. Where was he? What to do what to do?
Hilde was rather happy to be at the event, especially to find someone who didn't stare at her like a circus side show.. Well. Apart from Shane, but he was a given. Friendly people rock.

"Oh, then it is auspicious that you come to this one, the Russians have a grand history of art." He said moving closer, "We've been known for such things, much like our architecture we've made a good name with it." He said looking at the art with a smile. "Shane?" He asked, "I'm sure he'll turn up, I'm Dimitri Strovynsk. And you are?"
-Shane- 'Okay, don't worry, she's just talking and she's a friend what's it gonna hurt?' I asked myself as I began walking up to the two of them.

She listened, taking in all his words. He was so right about the architecture. She was actually really interested in the older buildings in Russia. Smiling the girl held out her hand. "It's nice to meet you Dimitri. My name is Hildegard Merquise." She'd wait for him to shake her hard or something. Following whatever would happen, she'd let her arms drop to her sides once more.
"I love the architecture!" Hilde spoke with excitement, she adored it. Of course she did feel a little silly moments later. "Sorry about that. ha ha."

"Oh, have no worries." Strovynsk said taking her hand, "I love my country's work, it's strong and has been there for generations." He began to bend slightly and brought Hilde's hand close to his face.
-Shane-
'Hell no!' I said rushing slightly to the two, 'Please tell me you're kidding. Knightmare said. Not the time. I got there right before he tried the kiss thing and placed my hand between her hand and his face. "Well...This is a new one." I said awkwardly.

She'd smile, he was an interesting man. Although before she knew it the fellow.. Dimitri? Yes. He was swooping in to kiss her had. Something a little odd to the youth of the time. No one really did such things anymore, so it came as a shock to her. Of course she didn't have any time to react, but of course she had good Ole Shane there. Rushing to her rescue. He was so kind. Looking over at him, her face was a little red. She was so thankful he had come to her rescue.
Was it the second time he had done so? She couldn't recall.
She felt warm inside, she couldn't understand why, but did it matter? She was happy that Shane was there again. Hilde was not prepared to deal with the artsey eccentrics. Latching onto his arm once more, the red haired girl would look once more at her new acquaintance. "Russia has wonderful art, I love it. I love how the older buildings stand out in your cities. I love the roofs. I hope I can one day see them in person." Hilde was speaking out of her passion for the architecture... and probably not thinking about how odd she probably sounded.
The question was... Was she going to annoy Shane by sticking so close to him?
