It was a nice, breezy day out, sun shining, birds singing---aw hell, it was cloudy and overcast with a strong wind and a threat of storms in the air. Outside, it was humid in a way that had people hurrying to and fro about their business, no one pausing to take their time even though there was no rain. The streets were packed with cars, so were the buses and other public forms of transportation, the sidewalks not very filled.
The breeze came and went and each time it returned, it was stronger, carrying the scent of rain. Asher ignored the breeze and the threat of storms, instead choosing to sit in the park and actually study for once, or at least until a worthwhile distraction showed up. She had brought along a blanket and spread it out, taking advantage of the lack of people out and about. There was almost no one in the park and she quite enjoyed this.
Pushing a few strands back into place, she adjusted her headphones slightly, holding her hair back against the breeze as she lay on her stomach, legs kicking up behind her in the air as she read. The volume was low, mostly so she could hear if a storm started, but to see if anyone else bothered coming out. The forecast had not predicted rain, but they were never one hundred percent accurate, were they?
Shifting slightly so she could take a sip of the water bottle she had with her, she lifted her head up to look around, sitting up to stretch and showing off the batman t-shirt and jeans she was wearing. Her shoes were neatly placed by her side, flip flops that for once had no heel and left her at her five foot even height. She was never bothered by her small stature, being as it was quite normal for her and the islands.
Chewing her lip, violet eyes looked around as she sighed once, missing her island home and the warmth and sunlight that it held. It was vastly different from the mainland and she was contemplating going back home once she graduated, provided she didn't go off somewhere else to attend schooling. She'd decided that she wanted to double major in biochemistry and pre-med. Two tough subjects that should challenge her, which was why she was out here reading her chemistry textbook.
That wasn't to say that her other homework wasn't with her, piled neatly to the side in her bag, able to be grabbed up at the first sign of rain, since she didn't want to be caught outside if it did storm. Looking up, she smiled slightly, noting a few patches of blue were slinking through the gloom, signaling that this would indeed be another bright and sunny day out. Just the type of day that she wanted, hoping that it would provide some good distractions.
