High school, a time where a person can pick their classes, for the most part. She had many freedoms like that, her father allowed her to go with any class she wanted. What she wanted to do, sign and learn and instrument. Band didn't seem like her cup of tea, perhaps a stringed instrument. Anyone and probably everyone in the state of California played the guitar. She wasn't going to be one of them. Oh no, she was going to play the double bass! Buuttt, her dad didn't think that was a good idea, so the next best option was the violin. It sounded enchanting, to her at least.
So, it was the final choice for the girl. Learn the violin and get a little more music under her belt. One day, she'd take singing classes. of course that day would be when she got over her fear of well... People hearing her. Walking towards the courtyard with the violin case in a hand, and a handful of sheet music and books in the other. A stand under her arm. Carrying so much stuff along with her, the girl felt a little silly. She should have packed the sheets into her bag. Where's the fun in taking the easy path?
Setup took only a minute, or so. The stand, the music, find the songs she wanted to play. Opening the case, Hilde looked upon the magnificent object that was the school violin. It looked a little worn, but that didn't matter, as long as she could play. That was the only thing that concerned her. Smiling, she'd reach in and taking the Violin by the finger board, she'd place the instrument in her lap. Smiling as she ran her fingers over the scroll, then the belly. The wood was smooth, although a little marked, it was beautiful.
Finally it was time to play! Picking it up and resting her chin on the chin rest, and grab the bow. Anticipation. Yes, it was going to be fun. Gliding the bow over E, A, D,G. She'd begin her attempt at playing for the first time. Pressing down on the strings in random locations. The notes didn't sound right at all. Regardless of how hard she was trying.
It sounded like she was beating a baby with a violin~XD;
"That doesn't sound right...."
She'd try many times to get the fingering right, of course failing,since she had no idea where they were. but she was trying... and talking to herself... Also, looking a little weird. Making such a horrible noise.
