Time.
He seemed to have less and less of it these days. Hours, days, weeks. He had only bee there a few days, but these would all pass before long. His grades spiked, rocketing to what was comfortable for him- A's. Not that he was bragging. Still, having the kind of academic record that he did brough attention, and it wasn't exactly the kind he enjoyed. People though he was flaunting himself, trying to show the students how stupid they were. It was an ill concieved notion, born out of nothing to bring reason for combat. It was pathetic and illogical- there was no reason for war, except that which we create. Now, he stood behind a girl, who currently making out with him rigorously. He didn't mind- she was definitely attractive. Totally a nutcase, but attractive.
Still, it wasn't like he actually wanted anything to do with her. But at that moment, some trunk-necked thugs were searching for him, and they happened to pass him right by, the open locker door shielding him from view. As they rounded a corner, his hands at her waist lifted her easily, setting her aside with little ado before he wiped his mouth and moved to walk away. She caught his arm, trying to pull him back.
"Don't you want to kiss a Dryad?"
Several thoughts went through his mind right there. First, that she was high, second, that he was probably in trouble.
Hnnh.
The sound seemed to move inside his head, a grunt that was thought without sound. He smiled a bit, though again it wouldn't be seen. She seemed to be either genuine, but he knew it as a sign of her insanity. He took a deep breath, running over what she had said in his mind. This world was her home-A dryad meaning as much, so that insinuated several things. Either she had lived in several different places and was actually very used to travel, or she was lost in her own little world. Either way, he was sure he wasn't about to find out soon, and being the patient individual he was, he would accept that it was something he would have to wait to find out.
He could live with that.
He sighed, almost resigningly, looking off into the area around them once more before turning his gaze back to her face.
"Uh.....I can't, actually. Perhaps another time? After all, we go to the same school."
He did mean what he said, he wouldnt mind kissing her again. But perhaps when she was a little more...mellow. It was getting close to her drug time anyway, and that would probably calm her down quite a bit. Not like he would wait around for her through- he slipped his hands through hers like a greased pig, moving quickly down the hall through a crowd of students just released from class. He heard her echoing cry, and then shouted order for him to call her.
"Yeah, right."
He broke away from the crowd, taking a deep breath as he stepped up to his locker, ready to retrieve his bag and head home for the day. At least he survived another without so much as a fat lip or a boot sized bruise to the face.
That was something, right?
