She caught that look and would just return it with one of her own. If this guy wanted to play a game then he had come to the right place. That was what she lived for, the game in everything she did. If it was not fun or interesting, she did not like it. Plain and simple. As he began speaking of his intended destination she grinned and rolled her eyes as she reached over and gave a light nudge.
Shaking her head she would simply divert her attention to his interest in the courtyard, the one place she probably spent the most time in this blasted place.
"It is alright but it is hard to keep it up with the amount of fights that break out. I try to handle what I can but I can only be in one place at a time."
She shrugged, she was growing tired of the fact that her Pillars never responded to such threats unless she personally sent for them. But then, perhaps it was just her and her never ending need for perfection. Whatever it was, it was starting to get on her nerves.
Letting out a soft sigh she would continue outside, letting him do as he pleased with one of the preppy girls that passed in the hall. Gah, those girls irked her to no end, but she said nothing and just simply continued on her way. Attention once more returning to him as he divulged his interests and hobbies. A grin once more starting to form on her lips.
"Good with your fingers huh? Hmm..I don't know. I guess it is all in who....I mean what you are doing with them."
Smiling once more, that fiery little smile she so often held, as she pushed the door open and stepped outside, reaching into bag to grab out her shades and slip them on.
"As for me. Well I am a photographer...I read often, enjoy music like it was oxygen, I work out only because it keeps me calm....Other than that I like staying busy, however that may be. Oh and toying with men's emotions. Always fun."
She giggled, not really letting on if it was true or not. But yeah, more than likely it was, only because it was so much fun to fuck with the idiots that usually graced her path.

Brian listened politely- unlike most unruly, impatient and headstrong males of his age, he was actually quite tolerant, and even accepting of those moments where someone just decided to cut loose a bit. Even though they had met just a littler while ago, she seemed rather comfortable around him. It was a talent, really, to hold that respectable, caring charm. He was a lover of women, to be sure, but not just put on as a show like some james kirk real life re-enactment. He actually liked the fact that they came to terms with him on an intellectual level, almost never asking to prove worth through strength of fist. Her honesty was also a major plus. Stating bluntly her love for the...game, as we have come to call it, in as open terms as that was amusing, to say the least.
"Ah...so i guess i should stay on my toes then, huh?"
He gave a smile as the sun pierced through the morning air. It wasn't hot, being early morning, but the cold, crisp air spoke volumes about the heat that would later scorch the earth. Not that he minded- he loved the sun, having gotten more than used to it at his old school in southern florida. The cement under his shoes crunched lovingly with its use, seemingly happy to have a few individuals no there to break it apart. He would follow her to the fountain, taking a seat along the edge before reaching into his pack and fishing out some water. He took a few deep drinks, letting out a pleasant gasp before he screwed back on the cap, watching her with a curious smile as he replaced it.
"So. Your School Captain, your smoking hot. Wheres the boy toy in all this?"
Curiosity killed the cat, as it were.
((Apologies for the shortness.))

She grinned, her eyes cast upward toward the sky as a light breeze blew across her delicate flesh. Sighing softly she would nod, her eyes turning toward him even though it was hard to tell through the dark shades she currently wore.
"It is wise to always remain on your toes. Though something tells me that you already know that."
A little smile offered before she would brush her hand slowly across her stomach, no other reason that an idle, mindless movement, her fingers catching onto the bit of flesh that was exposed as her shirt rode up under her touch. His final words causing her to falter slightly.
It was not that it caught her completely off guard, she supposed she knew it would come up sooner or later. It was more in the way of her not knowing how to answer.
Pausing for a moment she would take a soft breath, brushing the tip of her tongue over her lower lip for a moment before finally speaking up. Honesty was always the best thing she had learned, at least for the most part. Problem was, she was unclear what the truth really was anymore.
"Well, that is a hard question to answer. I mean, do I have a boyfriend? No, I do not. Yet I have a guy interested in being.....I think....However, the situation is, less than ideal and as such it leaves me confused and suffocated."
That was the best way to put it she thought. Sure she was with Jack sometimes, but he seemed so, detached from the whole thing when it came to anything other than sex. Soooo yeah, she could never be sure.
Shaking her head to try and shrug off the bit of seriousness that had settled into her, she would then smile and offer a light nudge toward him.
"I am sure you wont have any problems finding a girl in this place. You seem to be making quite the impression on the ladies already."
He was a charmer. That much was clear....And in this place, it would not be hard to find a handful of girls willing to fall head over heels for that stuff. Every girl loved to be charmed, whether they admitted it or not.

His eyes stole a glance over her entire body, watching as the sudden tensing of her muscle indicating more than her words could possibly let on. It was one of those- where you wanting something, was unsure of something else, or hated the entire situation and just wanted it to end. Perhaps it was a mix of all three, with her. She seemed able and willing to keep a steady stream of probable boyfriends nipping at her heels. Not that it really mattered to him- he wasn't exactly interested in that way. He hadn't had a girlfriend in over two years, and only one to boot. Not that someone or something of that nature was below him- oh the contrary. He just didn't like the stress of being tied down. Almost all relationships at his age were physical, and therefore obsolete.
He nodded, placing a hand on her back after she finished explaining herself.
"Ah, don't stress about it. I'm sure it will figure itself out in the end, for better or worse."
He smiled when she spoke about his impression. It was a funny thing, really. He very obviously liked women, but in truth it wasn't something he thought about when he actually acted the way he did. There was no pause to recollect on the past, or to wonder at the image he was giving. He just acted how he wished, and had fun being who he was. The minds of most male adolescence were centered around the act of sex, of looking cool and popular to the peers, or just showing the world that you can have whoever you want. Brian- he didn't care. He had no lacking of confidence, but he didn't lean on it like some self-absorbed narcissist constantly dwelling on his own ability to woo the ladies. He just did what he felt was right, and had fun doing it, just like any self respecting guy would.
"Ah, well. Its not something too pressing on my mind, y'know? I'm just here to get through high school."
Of course, everyone probably thought that on their first day. Still, he was optimistic about the future. He had already made a friend, avoided a fight, and gotten a pretty easy class schedule. There was really nothing to worry about, for now. He looked up at the sky, feeling the sun caress his skin like a loving parent, the wind taking through the trees with a lively step. It felt like the dawning of new possibilities, and though all light cast a shadow, he knew he need only avoid stepping in them. He looked over at Kevela, wondering at what had possibly happened to her that made her into who she was. Everyone had personality traits based of previous years- was she one who had been violently abused as a child, or was it simply the school system that gave her the strength she had today.
"Where did you go to school before here?"
His tone was a little more casual, trying to steer away from any presently unhappy memories.

She bit upon her lower lip, a soft sigh passing from her as she reached up and twisted a stay lock of hair about her index and middle fingers. Stretching her legs out as she sat there, she really just tried to relax....letting the warmth of the sun seemingly calm her typically stressed and frayed nerves.
As his hand touched upon her back, her head would turn, if only slightly, to allow her a better look in his direction. A smile still present on those lips as she thought over his words. Sure, she was not in any hurry to be with somebody either. Surviving til tomorrow was her main goal, but that did not mean she wasn't lonely most of the time.
She had been forced to grow up fast, and though she still held a lot of qualities typical to the teenage girl, she was emotionally more mature than some....okay more than most her age....It made making friends hard, and keeping the ones she did make even harder. Let alone a relationship. Pft! That was a pipe dream she liked to entertain from time to time but nothing she held out real hope for. It was just the way life had led her to be, always with a bit of hope for life and for others but none for herself.
"If it works out then it works out. I do not hold my breath."
She still smiled, even if she spoke with that hopelessness she felt inside. It was only brief though, her mind locking down almost as quickly as it had opened up.
She was never one to fully open up, no matter the situation. She had to have her secrets, to haunt her, to keep her up at night, lest she end up feeling totally and completely empty. Something that would not make sense to some, but made perfect sense to her.
"Surviving is all most seem to wish to do in this place. I wish I could see more passion from the students, more growth and care for their lives other than making it from one day to the next, but they all seem so lacking in this."
She shrugged. She may have been the perfect example of what she had just defined, but that only made her desire to see different from the other students that much more real. No person wanted to see others make the same mistakes they made. Or at least no decent person.
Nibbling softly upon the corner of her lower lip, she would turn her head away from him again, her hand reaching back behind her to brush her fingers through the water that pooled at the bottom of the fountain. The coldness a nice contrast to the heat the sun had provided upon her flesh, however light it may have been.
Then came the question about her old school. Mind instantly drawn back to another time and place where she had done a lot of her growing up. Shrugging softly, her eyes scanned over the water as her hand continued to make little circles in the otherwise calm surface.
"I used to live in Long Beach...attending the school 259....Before that, I was in a lot of different schools, seeing as how I was constantly being moved around."
The names of those schools nothing more than a blur in her memory at this point.
"You?"

Ah, survival.
It was a notion he was familiar with, though quite honestly, he didn't think about often. Not that his own life didn't concern him, but he felt that dwelling on the possibilities of tomorrow took you away from the gift of today. The only thing certain in this world is the present, and though he had plans for the future he never moved all his chips into the same place. Still, moving day in and day out according to your fear of the possibility of pain, or death, or brought stress. He was not fond of stress. So, he lived carefree, working and acting according to the laws and experiences given to him in the moment. He could level with her though, he just didn't look at it in the same fashion.
He shrugged his left shoulder, reaching up and using his middle finger to slide his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.
"Ah, well, my story is probably a lot less complicated. Moved here from England, attended a school in Florida. Things didn't work out there, so i moved here. Dad died a few months ago, which caused the move." He looked up at the sky, putting the sun in its place according with time. He looked back over at the Captain before reaching into his back pocket and pulling out a card. On it was the address for a martial arts dojo, but that wasn't important. He flipped it over, bringing a pen from his left pocket and writing down his name and number, speaking as he did so.
"Here's my cell." He stood back up, handing it to her.
"I like you, Katashi. Your a pretty cool girl." He gripped his shoulder strap, shrugging it up a little higher along his shoulder. "I have to get going, but if you need anything, feel free to give me a call." He stepped forward, taking her hip with his left hand, and placing a light kiss on her cheek. He knew she might assume it was customary, since he was from England, but in truth he just wanted the pleasure of tasting that soft skin along the rise of her cheekbones. He pulled away, before she could get angry, or embarrassed, or shy, and began walking in the direction of the double doors to the Science Department. He stuck his right hand up over his shoulder in a little wave, his lilting voice following after, with a small echo.
"Make sure to keep your chin up, Captain."
