Description: Kickboxing refers to the sport of using martial-arts-style kicks and boxing-style punches to defeat an opponent in a similar way to that of standard boxing. Kickboxing is a standing sport and does not allow continuation of the fight once a combatant has reached the ground.
Kickboxing is often practiced for general fitness, or as a full-contact sport. In the full-contact sport the male boxers are bare-chested wearing shorts and protective gear including: mouth-guard, hand-wraps, 10-oz. boxing gloves, groin-guard, shin-pads, kick-boots, and optional protective helmet.[/ul]
History
Aaron grew up in Florence, not in the rich part of the city, but in the middle class area, and grew up relatively well. Growing up, Aaron’s father had a huge library filled with books in their house, which attributed to his love of reading. When he was 8, his father sent him to a kickboxing dojo to be able to protect himself if needed, and he continually practiced until he finished university. When Aaron was 10, it was during a robbery that James was shot and killed by the fleeing robbers. Saddened by losing James, Alicia packed up everything they owned, and took Aaron to the city where she had grown up, enrolling him in public elementary school immediately. It was when he was 13, and taking out the trash, that he met his first and only love. He was about to deposit the bag into the can, when he heard the sound of yelling from next door and looked up, just as the back door slammed open, and someone came out, he saw it was the youngest daughter of their new neighbors.
She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, he tore his eyes away from her long enough to place the bag into the can and tried to place the trash can lid back on as quietly as he could, but despite his effort, it still managed to catch her attention. The two of them made intense eye contact, his dark brown eyes staring into her ice blue eyes. He blushed slightly, and was thankful it was dark enough that she couldn't see him blushing, as he placed the lid back on securely. "... Are you okay...?” He asked, sounding genuinely concerned. "U-m yeah. Ha-ha, just got something in my eye. Err...did you hear that just now? Sorry.." "No no, I didn't hear anything, I was just taking out the trash and... well, yeah, I kind of did hear that...” He admitted, as he walked over to the fence, his hands inside his jacket pockets, as he saw her blush and laugh slightly. "I'm Vanessa...funny way to meet a new neighbor huh?" "I'm Aaron, and it's not exactly normal, but it isn't unorthodox either." He replied, as he looked up at the night sky above them. "Nice night huh...?" He asked, as he saw her nod from the corner of his eye.
"Yeah, the stars are always pretty here. Say if you're going to school tomorrow...I'll walk with you. If that's okay...." "Yeah, sure, I'd like that." "Great! I guess I'll see you tomorrow then..." He heard her say, as he returned her smile. "Have a good night." He saw her turn to leave, but then slowly turned around and looked back at him, giving him one last lingering look, just for a moment. "Bye...." He replied, as he gave her a brief wave before placing his hand back in his pocket, looking slightly confused, but smiled slightly, before he headed back into his house. After that night, the two of them began to grow closer to each in the weeks that followed, and before he knew it, the two of them were official. Aaron's mom couldn't be more happy for her son, because her son was actually happy, and Aaron was the happiest he had ever been in a long while, since his father had died.
And since he was more or less a jock, Vanessa's father approved of him dating Vanessa, which was in his favor. Just as Vanessa was able to open up to him and show him her true self, he was able to be himself around her, and he loved her just as much for that. She was someone he wanted to stay with... But some things don't always last forever. Before Aaron had met Vanessa, he always loved sports, since it distracted him from the pain of having lost his father, and had joined the football and basketball teams. Sadly, he paid more attention to them than Vanessa, placing a massive strain on their relationship, and soon enough, at the end of their Freshman summer, she had broken up with him. Aaron was back to acting stoic and somber, coming home to a empty house, and heartbroken.
Saddened by seeing her son so heartbroken, his mother decided to send him to the his grade camping trip, hopefully to take his mind off the pain he was feeling. Packing his bags, Aaron boarded the bus, only to feel a stab of pain and longing in his heart. Vanessa was on the bus, and surrounded by her admirers no less. Heading to the back of the bus, Aaron took a seat in the back by himself, avoiding her as much as possible, there were high feelings of tension and awkwardness between the two of them, since she broken up with him only just yesterday. He spent the entire bus ride staring out the window, though he would try to enjoy the trip, while avoiding Vanessa as much as possible. Once they reached the camp site, Aaron would be sharing a tent with a guy named Thierry, who looked the typical lone wolf. He had the look, the attitude, everything. But appearances can be deceiving. Aaron knew the week would be rough, but he had gotten through worse. The first night, the two of them talked, and just as Thierry learned that there was more to Aaron than just playing football and beating up nerds, Aaron learned there was more to Thierry than just acting aloof and sarcastic, there was something deep to him. Through this, the two of them became great friends, something that Aaron needed to get through the pain of losing Vanessa.
Later in the week, they were split into groups, and Aaron was teamed up with Thierry, a girl named Rain, a nerdy girl named Danielle, and last but not least, Vanessa (Awkward much?). The five of them set out on a canoe race, with him, Danielle, and Rain in one canoe, and Thierry and Vanessa in the other. They were having the time of their life, that is, until a storm hit, completely drenching all of them. It was like the heavens had opened the flood gates, with some thunder and lightning thrown into the mix. At first, they tried to stay together, but the storm became worse, and the three of them became separated from Thierry and Vanessa. At first, they tried to go and search for them, but visibility was so poor, they ended up having to give up and head back to the campsite. Once they got back, they began to build a tarp to protect their tents from collapsing and being blown away. Once they were done, Aaron waited in the campsite with an umbrella. He hoped Thierry would be fine, but knew he would be, the guy was tough. Aaron however, was worried about Vanessa more than anything else, and hoped she'd come back safely.
Despite the fact they weren't together, he still had feelings and cared for her. He then heard a noise from behind, and saw, much to his relief, a muddy Vanessa. Tossing his umbrella away, he ran to her, and despite being covered in mud, he pulled her into a embrace, not caring that his clothes would get muddy. Even though he was around his ex, the mosquitoes nearly drove him insane, and Thierry locked him out of his own tent, Aaron had a great time, and met some interesting people, people that he would never forget, and surprisingly, became good friends with. Dani, Rain, and Thierry. And his ex, Vanessa, but they made up, and their friendship grew stronger than ever. But just because they became friends with each other, didn't mean they hung out with each other at school. They all went back to their old cliques, but outside of school, all five of them spent as much time as they could with each other. Every summer break since that camping trip, they took road trips down to Vancouver, and on one of their trips, found an old abandoned house located on top of a cliff, and made it into their hangout. Their high school years flew by, and before Aaron knew it, they were graduating.
He knew they'd be going separate ways soon, so as a memento to the times they spent together, they buried a time capsule that held items that held value to each of them, and buried it in the basement of the old house. Summer ended, and he'd have to leave them behind. He would miss them, and would definitely keep in touch. When fall came, Aaron had received a scholarship to study in the University of the City of New York. Aaron immediately enrolled into a teaching major, and spent 8 years studying, and after he was done, he held a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching. While he was studying to be certified, he took a job in the N.Y.P.D, and became a detective, while taking night classes for his major. It was on a case that went bad that Aaron had to give up his badge. His squad had surrounded a criminal, and he was with another officer, they were behind the criminal, hidden in the shadows of the alleyway. He saw the guy look around, his face stoic, and then centered his gaze on one officer, and lunged forward, aiming at his target, and Aaron leaped out, making a split second decision, his gun aimed for the criminal, ready to fire, but the criminal had feinted, he wanted to draw one particular officer out, Aaron.
This criminal was the younger brother of one the criminals he had caught and sent to prison for his crime. The guy pulled out a knife, turned, and slashed at Aaron, intending to kill him, as Brian, his best friend who was also his partner, shouted out a warning to him. Aaron had seen the movement at the last minute, and dodged to the left, though he didn't come out of the confrontation unscathed. The knife hit his right arm, cutting it very deeply. The other officers fired at the guy, killing him on the spot, as Anthony went down, clutching his right arm in agony. Aaron was rushed to the hospital, and though the doctors managed to stop the bleeding, with his shooting arm injured, Aaron would not be able to use a gun for a very long time. Having no choice, Aaron left his badge and gun on his desk and walked away. Eight years on the force...done. It's been three years since Aaron left the 89th Precinct and New York behind. Now he's a office worker for a company called Black Enterprises. He was making a decent payroll, but he decided he was tired of his cubicle job, and wanted to put his teaching degree to some use, so he quit his job, not on hostile terms, but on good terms, since he was moving.
He headed back to their old stomping grounds, the old, abandoned house on top of the cliff, to see his old friends again... and Vanessa. The minute they all reunited, and even though they all looked different, older, old memories came rushing back. Aaron bent down, and dug out the time capsule they had buried, and opened it, as they congregated around the little box in his hand. Staring at the items inside, Aaron suddenly became inspired. "We should build a college..." He said quietly, and at first, although it seemed funny, in the end, they all agreed, and before they knew it, they had permission to build the college, and the funds, though each of them had a secret from each other, a secret that the government threatened to release... if all five of them didn't agree to let the government build a facility beneath their college. With no choice but to let them, Aaron gave his consent, as did the others. But despite that, it was start of the new life... for all of them.
Victory Heights College
After Victory Heights College opened its doors, Aaron met up with his old friends, as well as growing very close to Danielle. However, the school year did not end well. Due to a lack of funding, by the end of the school year, Victory Heights College was forced to shut down. Now unemployed, he had no job to go to, and the job market was in a slump these days. Aaron’s mother had passed away when he was 28, before he had left his job, and had left him the family inheritance that Aaron wouldn’t use unless it was necessary. One day, when Aaron got back to his apartment and checked his mail, he received a letter from his old friend, Thierry Durand, who had become the headmaster of his own institute, and asked if he could be the Physical Education teacher. He accepted right away, and moved to San Diego, staying in a condo, teaching at the institute.[/ul]
