Description:Savate (French pronunciation: [savat]), also known as boxe française, French boxing, French Kickboxing or French Footfighting, is a French martial art which uses both the hands and feet as weapons and combines elements of western boxing with graceful kicking techniques. Only foot kicks are allowed, unlike some systems, such as Muay Thai and Silat, which allow the use of the knees or shins. Savate is perhaps the only style of kickboxing in which the fighters habitually wear shoes (savate being a French word for "old shoe"). A practitioner of savate is called a savateur (male) or savateuse (female).

History[/size]
Vanessa was born the youngest in her family, and as such, though she led a rather productive and eventful life, she was always a tad bit sheltered and held back. Moving around from city to city, country to country, she never really got the chance to make friends. It is hard to be friends with people when you know deep down inside that you will be leaving them again shortly.
Sure, there were those, in each and every place she lived that looked upon her with some form of adoration and desire. Both boys and girls alike, chose to try and align themselves with her in order to gain her as their “friend”. But she knew the truth, she knew that no matter what they might have said at the time, they were only there because of what they thought of her, what she had been turned into by her Father.
Ever since she was born, her path in life had been decided for her by Darrien, her Father. Just like the other siblings in her family, he pushed her to become that which HE wanted her to be. Something that would make the Vallequette family name something to remember and be known world round. Her twin sisters were already on the path to becoming actresses, and her brother Tommy was a genius when it came to playing the guitar. Now, it was her turn, to become a model. Or at least that is what her Father had planned for her anyway.
He controlled everything, from the classes and after school activities she took part in…to the people she was around and every other aspect of her life. There was not room for error, no room to make her own choices, to branch out and to become her own person.
She protested against every bit of what he forced upon her, the only one in her family who dared to stand against him, and when she did, nobody was there to protect her from his rage. Not her mother, nor her brother and sisters. She stood alone against a tyrant in a never ending struggle to be herself.
It was no surprise when he would raise his hand to strike her, claiming to be disgusted with her and demanding that she get out of his sight. Still, nobody came to her defense, and inside it bred a hatred for not only the man whom she called her Father but for the rest of her family as well. How could they stand there and do nothing? How could they let him turn them into nothing more than mindless slaves to live the life HE wanted them to live? Did none of them ever desire to be something more, something that THEY chose to be?
It was so much for a girl her age to try and understand, and yet she was forced to try..
But alas, the years flew by, and soon enough her sisters had graduated and moved out. Her brother soon to do the same. It seemed like her life was passing her by and every day she saw as another day closer to when she too could leave and make something of herself. Something she wanted to be. She felt so alone, even in a house full of people, she felt as though she were nothing more than a shadow on the wall.
Then she met Aaron and everything changed. He was the most handsome boy she had ever laid eyes upon, with his dark hair and brown eyes, he was amazing and soon enough, they had formed a sort of relationship. It was new and exciting for her, and honestly she could not help but begin to feel her heart start to beat faster every time he was near. But the problem was, they were young, and as with most young males of that age, he was more into his sports and his friends than he was into her, and though she knew it would break her heart, she could not allow herself to be strung along like that, and in the end, she was forced to break up with him….
Leaving her once more as nothing more but a hallow shell, a drone in life, only now, with more heartbreak to add to the already shattered vessel.
But all was not lost, or at least, it would soon become clear that it was not. Soon enough, she managed to sneak her way into a field trip. Camping. Something her father would never have approved of but something she worked tremendously hard to keep secret. Sure, things were a bit strange at first, given that he was there, and that the boy she ended up being stuck with, Thierry, managed to get them stranded, by running their canoe into a rock and splitting it in half. Yes, in half, two pieces of a whole….her ass in the water, his ass in the water and the whole situation baring down on her like some ill fated act of the gods.
Then to top it all off, he turned around and joked about it. Gah! Men. She had tried to play it off as though she did not need him to help her, despite the cold chill in the air and the fact that she was dripping wet. But that did not last for long, and before she knew it, his arm was about her, an attempt at keeping each other warm as they began their walk back…Though the sunset, in all its beautiful glory, caught them both by surprise, and before long she found herself relaxing into the embrace of his arm about her shoulder, offering a smile and noting that he was indeed a rather handsome boy. But this was not the time nor the place for such matters….and soon she found herself suggesting that they find their way back.
Though he was a teenage boy and she was a soaking wet girl in a soaking wet shirt…and it was cold, and as was their nature, he made the wrong comment at the wrong time, earning him a good second look and a punch to the shoulder. Yet, she still found herself really liking his company despite the way he acted, seeming to make everything into a joke. So light hearted and yet so much more. She was sure.
But alas, the trip had to come to an end, and though she had met people she would never be able to forget, she could only hope that one day she would be able to see them all again sometime. And as it turned out she did. Rain, Danielle, Aaron, Thierry and herself became best friends, though the entire thing was kept in secret, knowing that her father would never approve, and for the rest of her highschool life that is how it remained. She loved and cherished each of them, and that was what made saying goodbye so much harder as the final year drew to a close.
She of course would miss them, and would do all that she could to keep in touch…which was more than she could say for her family. No, she was done with them, done with her father and his controlling ways. It was time for Vanessa to become her own person, no matter what that may entail. She was ready to branch out, and boy…..branch out she did……
…………………
…………………………….
Yeah, what can you say about life when it is spent living at the playboy mansion? Honestly? She had never thought her life would take her that way, but it did, and she could not help but laugh. Turned out she was a model after all, just not the kind daddy might have thought her to be. Awwww…..
But she was not complaining, because sure enough, the money began to roll in and before she knew it, she was well off and in no need of even having to try and support herself again. At least not for awhile. Life was great, but it was not complete.
Something was missing. And even as she continued through with this amazing and sometimes seemingly unrealistic life she had, she could not help but think back to those she had left behind in high school. Those who had been, and still were, her only true friends.
So, before too long she found herself back where it had all started, or at least where her real life had started. Back where her friends were and seeing how they had all chanced was something that made her smile. It was so good to see them, so good to hear their voices and their laughs. It was amazing.
It was in this time, that they thought to do something good not only for themselves, but for others, to use what money and influence they all had to start a school. In hopes of bringing something to the world.
Not to mention, she loved teaching, it was her truest of passions and though yes, she had modeled and what not, the truth of the matter was, when she got to sit and discuss her thoughts on mythology with the young, hungry minds of those before her, she felt, truly useful and happy. It was more than she had ever dreamed she would be doing in this life time and it was great.
But, things always must come to an end, and eventually the school was forced to close, leaving Vanessa with a choice to make. One she again hated to do, but saw as the only fitting thing. She needed to again say good bye to her friends and venture out on her own. Discover who she was and what her real goal in life was. She had the money, the means and the ambition, and before long she was exploring the world.
Yet no matter where she went or what she did, she felt, left out, as though she were nothing more than just a face amongst the crowd. Which she was really….Because these people, were fake, they did not care for her, they did not tell her like it was and keep her in line. No, they were just posers trying to muscle in on her life in hopes of sex or a hand out.
She was not able to keep it up for long. The desire, no, the need to teach was too strong, to be with those she missed and to try and make new relationships. It was the best she could hope for, and having heard of the opening of a new school in San Diego, she was more than ready to put in her application to teach there.
She wanted to again be a part of something greater than herself. No matter what that might be. So, as she settled into her new condo in the bright and beautiful city, she could not help but smile. Rumor had it an old friend was here as well, and though she was not sure how things would play out, it would still be nice to see him again. But, as with all things, it was all a matter of waiting…….
