Okay so this is in relation to another thread and perhaps one of the more looked upon things in Xin and other stat related sites. How we interpret statistics, this being in and outside of fights. To my own thought a lot of these are up for interpretation by the user which is mostly what takes place outside of fighting, in fighting they are much more defined and clear to my own definitions.
Now as I learned as a young Newbie the Average for humans in the Xin world would be a base of 10 to all stats. Thats average strength speed, longevity, intelligence, perception, and charisma to their respective stats. 5 would be below average, 15 above average and you go from there.
Strength: In characterizing a person outside of the arena of battles Strength can refer as your physical prowess. This can be in regards to how you look or a less noticeable inner strength. So a character with a high strength may appear to be bulky and muscular or more like me and be somewhat lanky and thin but have enough strength to throw around in a menacing manor.
In a fight, I regard this as a power focused stat. It can be used in regards to offensive and defensive purposes. IE your punch strength or blocking strength.
Now what I've learned is that the stat value determines what effects you have on the surrounding area. In regards to Xin and the AOE effects of the landscape. 10 being the average NPC strength would be able to crack and shatter walls. 15-20 breaking clear through them. Going even higher which has more or less only been seen on 259 to my knowledge would be the 100's thats capable of destroying cars/buildings (credit to Scotty for that one)
Dexterity: This is a favored stat for smaller characters generally the type to be fairly lean and swift engaging in pin point strikes. Outside the arena it'd be most commonly referred to as the speed, basic running, flexibility etc.
In fighting again much of the same its speed and flexibility. I determine the speed based on MPH as I'm sure most due their stat being the fastest speed at which they achieve however in their fight this can be toned down and altered much like strength IE like punches/slow punches obviously wouldn't be at their fullest speed interpret as the context suggests. Flexibility, the higher it is the better they are at bending, this can be played as you want it too sometimes fast people aren't stretchy and bendy like me IRL I can run fast but I failed the flexibility test in track. All depends on how your character is to be played.
Constitution: In my opinion the most important stat you have. For one its your longevity and often a person's tolerance for pain. People can all interpret the out of fight standard of this differently seeing as its all encompassing to practically every stat.
In a fight however the Constitution stat plays to a fighter better placating to a drawn out fight. This refers to your own character's physical output, being their Strength and Speed (if you're running at full speed for a long time eventually you're bound to get tired), and also thinking in terms of pokemon your health points. Constitution measures how well you can take those hits. This changes due to different fighter's stat choices but like other stats I determine this based on the differences.
For example:
A fighter with 50 Str, Dex, and Con vs a character with 10 of the same stats.
Chances are if all hits are direct on him, he'll last probably a good 3 posts taking direct damage. In reversed situation the one with 50's taking direct damage would probably be able to last a fair 15+ posts simply because he's got +40 on the other fighter not to mention the weaker fighter is expending more energy on a stronger fighter to efficiently distribute damage. Though this varies on styles, targets, character's sizes etc.
Intelligence: As TJ was saying earlier a person with high intelligence can vary being smart but have no social skills or the other way around this is very true it comes down to what your character is like in the thread itself. Intelligence can refer to their knowledge of situations, of a specific subject (Autism?), or book smart its up to you.
In a fight I interpret this as your Accuracy attack. Again reverting to Pokemon but very much its own ideal. I figure it into a normal equation.
Your Int+Dex vs opponents Wis+Dex.
This is what I figure is the DodgeToCounter Ration Again up to interpretation in a fight a high Intelligence will suggest your offensive attacks are more likely to hit if its higher than your opponents wisdom.
Wisdom: What I'd call street smarts or knowledge out of a fight. I'd consider this to be combined with more of a knowledgeable character one who's often worldly and Intelligent to a degree of people rather than books. Also its perception, how you find yourself in the environment, the higher it is the better a person can see themselves meshed with everyone else in the room.
Charisma: Now generally this is a very difficult stat to take into account seeing as how charisma is supposed to describe a character with high people skills right? But that is better displayed in their writing and how characters interact with one another. So there have been many advances I've seen through multiple RP boards where people take Charisma in their own creative ways to better effect things.
Out of a fight I'd say this is a very powerful one, Influence on NPC's is greatly enhanced the higher it is, Influence on PC's should be higher though that can be discussed in the thread itself.
Charisma in battle is taken into account when Qi is introduced, Charisma is the control over your Qi, the strength of it and directly relates to the enhancements.
It can also relate to NPC warfare (Gang Wars) someone with higher Charisma in a gang war is often more likely to win. They keep composure and NPC's are likely to to keep resolve.
