Heaven's not a place that you go when you die It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive So live for the moment And take this advice, live by every word Love is just a hoax so forget everything that you have heard Patterns of flitting lights trickling in the night sky over the pier lit the creatures of the night. They branded themselves in light flitting clothing and took to the sea much like eons ago those from the sea sprung forth to the land. Feet carrying along beside one another as they jostled and played amongst the sand. Ten those by land blatantly ignored the sea goers watching from their kingdom by the sand but built upon the trees of the inward coast. Their merry go rounds jingling into the dark sky as children bustled and played but weary old eyes looking to the sea with nostalgia searching for once far begotten beginnings and hoping for them to start anew. The often misunderstood figure shrouded in darkness was however once again not understood by those of either land or sea for he was but of both worlds just as confused as the rest of them growing into his own as a child would to an adult. Filled with fears and contempt for those around him while even still he was his own private person. His pale eyes trenching the area for concern and later dwarfed by other figures with equally glazed expressions as they marched out into the night with an appalling sense of character. With a small shrug of his coat they dispersed into the night like ants from the mound and Uriel made his way into the light. His blond wavy locks often looked upon like a whimsical character of the sea, those dudes and bras that would act so heartily though his attire set him off as those cave dwellers lurking behind a bright screen commenting on miscellaneous blogs and updating his status constantly. Being neither of these things left him alone as a loner type hiding behind his wall to keep him safe from the outside world. Striding across the open pier Uriel found himself within the helms of the Carnival, unstopped by any individual and rather unaided by any of his "Associates" in time he supposed he'd get accustomed to their unambitious deeds but he supposed thats what was needed and manageable to have about. Without halting he'd make way under the big tent at the end of the pier and sit atop a set of bleachers pulled out. His eyes would trace over those young and old play at the water gun games shooting playfully at the clowns to see who'd win. What it must feel like to be a child again. A good and wise prince, desirous of maintaining that character, and to avoid giving the opportunity to his sons to become oppressive, will never build fortresses, so that they may place their reliance upon the good will of their subjects, and not upon the strength of citadels. -Niccolo Machiavelli, (1469-1527)

The April air was cool, but it was warm enough to be wearing just a simple cardigan with a flowing white dress with a matching belt. She had just spent the day on the beach with a couple of people she met from school until they left leaving Reira to wander the pier alone. Darkness fell over the beach like a magician's cloak, turning the blue skies to red flames until it finally morphed the sky and sea together to become single entity consisting of stars and lights. Children still played among the moonlit beach just by the shoreline under the watchful eye of their guardians. Reira could only smile when she heard their giggling and screaming, she could only wish that she would still be able to enjoy the same simple pleasures of life. Walking down the pier that led out deep into the dark unknown, Reira followed the moonlit canopy at the end of pier. Slowly but steadily she made her way there, her wedge-heeled sandals making no sound as she walked. Perhaps she looked a bit like a ghost with her billowing white dress-ever heard of a white lady? Either way, it wasn't pitch dark, she remained looking human enough. Reira had not noticed the man that seated himself on the bleachers as she was approaching the tent, If she had, she would not have started to sing a few verses of the song Hallelujah. Well I've heard there was a secret chord David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do ya ? Well it goes like this: The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, HallelujahReira stopped singing abruptly when she saw the figure sitting there. She was a little embarassed, afterall singing to a crowd wasn't something she was too fond of even though she did have a fairly nice voice. Reira preferred giving speeches rather than preform on stage. "I apologize, I hope I didn't disrupt you..."

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
A beautiful sound to say the least to be woken from a dampened slumber. Much like the harp tuned sound of y'old, where a maiden would beckon to the beast to sway their carnivorous nature only to chain themselves down in the wake of the depth. With a deep scuttled sigh emerging from his ill tempered heart shaken into something lighter due to the song perhaps or the ghastly figure enchanting it?
"I apologize, I hope I didn't disrupt you..."
His pale eyes turned up staring with a look of emptiness feeling as though robbed of noise having lost but a moment. He sat there in silence for a good moment his eye faltering just above her neckline watching her lips where the noise had emerged before slowly rising to those eyes.
"Non... Please continue, you're not a bother."
Uriel made to remark slightly the edgy voice that'd been so harsh turning complacent for but a moment. Was it a sin to relax in a restless natured soul? Was it not blessed to plead for but another sound from an elegant voice? Thoughts that could torment any soul let alone that of a man trapped by much more than hallowed skin.
Motion behind her for a moment before Uriel tilted his head, his pale eyes looking past her at the figures lingering in the dark spaces readily approaching to defend their lord but backing away at his nod.
"Sorry... been tired as of late, your voice is quite relaxing to me."

Reira fidgeted under his gaze. There was something about the presence of this man that unnerved her. It was as though he carried an air of grace and authority with every word and every gesture. Although the darkness was shadowing their figures, when he gazed past her she could feel the immense depth of those mysterious orbs. This man was not a simple man- that was what Reira had deduced. The tone of his voice, however, had slightly taken her back. it seemed as though he was weary, and it carried surprising gentleness. Reira had expected a sharp retort, something cold and sharp, a voice that matched the intensity of his stormy hues. Reira, had only believed that he nodded towards her to continue and to be at ease. Her heart went out for the guy at the moment. Perhaps it was foolish her to let her guard down, but in the darkness and in the tranquility of the mystic night, the man looked as though he was getting swallowed up by the darkness and sorrows. He may not be experiencing these emotions but the scene before her looked disheartening. "..." Reira didn't know what to say. She didn't want to disrupt the man, she wanted to comfort the stranger. It was one of those motherly moments she had in life. She just wanted to wrap her arms around the stranger and just transfer her comfort to him, but if he says that her voice can complete such a task, she could only comply without further hesitations. She sang the song softly as she walked closer to the railing at the end of the pier before stopping there singing in another language softly towards the calm waters. translation: Don't cry for me, how easy love has gone. Try to see, how deep my despair is Come the winds of fate and time, take all my tearful memories.
Call out to thee, singing your name in sweet harmony but only echoes fade away. Crying breeze to thee every moment with chiming wind where has the silent tears.
Don't sigh for me, your fate rings false to me, try to see the shards of history. Darkness fills my heart and I'm.. laughing loud on all that's passed us byWhen she'd finish she'd turn to look at the stranger with her warm chocolate hues. For a moment her hand would reach out to just touch the tips of his tresses... she realized why those eyes and sulking figure bothered her. "Nathaniel...." she muttered under her breath. He reminded her of her late brother.

It only took time as the melody flowed whimsically. At some point Uriel found his finger swaying in unison to her voice until the point where it built and appexed where his foot would follow suit. The melody itself was soothing, something about a foreign language of which he wasn't attuned to made it feel even more relaxing, not knowing how to depict the words and what light he'd have to see in her choice. And before long she'd ceased the beat his hand still gently following in sway to the motions until the last word denoted from under her breath.
"Nathaniel...."
His lids opened firing a most serious gaze. IF he wasn't mistaken, she'd just notioned a very familiar name. While their Nathaniel's were different people it didn't cease the rise of emotive thought behind it. The other Cousin he'd lost track of, why hadn't he thought of him?
It took a moment for him to subtly understand her physical body language, hand near his tresses and just above his gaze. That was until he'd averted his sight consciously sizing her up again. The figures from behind flinching forward in an uneasy temperance.
"Beg your pardon?" Uriel would ask in reply, his voice trying to resist the cold sharp edge it seemingly carried on a constant basis.
This game of being good was detrimental towards his nature but he supposed it'd be easier here off of campus rather than putting up with the few he'd already run into. Silly People like the Captain and Kale who evidently didn't like competition. But that was aside the fact, returning to the here and now his focus was imperviously on her. A soulfully mixed expression it seemed as though she were trying to bury the past but unable to outrun her shadows.

"Beg your pardon?"
Reira snapped out of her thoughts her eyes glistened upon realizing her blunder. Thankfully the darkness shrouded the light in her eyes to a certain extent but her tone and body language could not hideaway the melancholy that surfaced. Reira paid no heed to the slight edge to his tone, because she was fully captured by the ironic resemblance this man has with her brother.
She had quickly retracted her hand, taking a few steps back and placed her hands behind her back in a guilty fashion while she surprise and confusion was etched across her feminine visage.
"Sorry, you just reminded me of someone close to me that I don't see anymore." Reira would explain cautiously while gathering her composure, however the confusion and melancholy apparent in her eyes was speaking louder than the actual words she was saying.
Reira felt bad for disrupting his peace again. She seemed to be annoying the heck out of this guy. First she disrupts his 'alone time', next she's calling him her brother! The poor guy had said he was tired lately and here she was probably making him feel worse with her taking up his spare time!
"Sorry...I...I should probably be quiet now."
Reira'd pretended to zip her mouth shut with her fingers while tightening her lips before she took a seat next to him. She remained silent and her thoughts were the only thing that accompanied her while they sat in silence. Was she so arrogant and proud that she thought the guy would like her to sit beside him? No, she was just selfish because she wanted to relive the feelings she had when she would used to spend time with Nathaniel.

Brother...?
Thats what he thought he heard. Pathetic mortals always clinging to something that wasn't there, how Uriel pitied those who were so weak that they had to oblige to nightmares in their heads for solace.
Already Uriel was reanalyzing the girl, he could sense what was coming, the absence of contact from his gang members not to mention his affiliation with Mischa's over-dose, the walls would be closing in shortly lest he make quick action as to dispose of the weak links to his plot. He needed an ace in the whole.
"Sorry...I...I should probably be quiet now."
......
the slip that defined her, insecure to a level, weak. His eyes glared deeply upon her as though searching for her key. Brother....
"Tell me.... What was he like.... your brother?" The golden eye's power searching through her mind making the truth reality as he began prying her for information and soon a need to function to his will.

"Tell me.... What was he like.... your brother?"
Reira was surprised by his question. She hadn't expected him to ask or probe into her personal life. Turning to look at him she was captured by his intense gaze and she couldn't help but feel a little mesmerized by his orbs. Her expressioned soften as she felt compelled to speak even though she was against the idea. Talking about her brother was like ripping two new slashes in her back, the scars remind her of her weakness. The tragedy is her biggest cause of angst, it caused her to become a person that constantly ran away from reality. Her brother was her pillar of strength and determination, and when he was gone she merely swallowed by the cruelty of society.
"He was an amazing guy I really looked up to him. I love him more than life. Nathaniel was always protective of me and supported me. He was abnormally charismatic and intelligent. He was pretty much a really well-rounded guy. Y'know the top grades, student council president, soccer team captain, school play actor, that type of guy?" Reira would say before her voice began to shake as her honey brown eyes began to water.
"Nathaniel was always there to pick me up when I was down. He fought away everyone that bullied me and basically took care of me since my parents neglected me because of him. At a time I was sure I hated him, but he was just...such a loving brother I couldn't help but love him back. I remember how he's always so uptight about doing the right things and how he'd always give me a hug and piggy back rides no matter how old I was...he's...a good guy."
Reira took a shaky breath in as he tore her gaze away from Uriel haunted by the fact that the man beside her looked like Nathaniel.

A good guy....
Uriel had to fight off the laughter within himself. The sick contagious thought that spread quickly imploring that he could play such a cruel game to this little girl. Sick as it may be it was also ingenious. His gaze peering closer, his body shifting off the contours of the wooden table as he closed the gap with each step his eye glaring her down closer and closer reading a little more about her compelling the words of his voice to change, the eyes falter and shift to gentler tones, his body contorting in her mind to a more appealing facet. Luckily her misinterpretation had been the starting glance. She'd done most of the work for him and as it would seem she'd be doing much more for him in days to come.
"I do say.... You've changed quite a lot..." He didn't know her name but he caught her brother's it was a start, now to play this carefully.
"Lil' Sis.... have I not told you to keep your chin up.... smile a bit."
He'd grin the imagery between his features and hers altering so that he was none other than the Nathaniel she knew and loved.
