Kale had a lot on his mind. Lately it had been really hard for him to focus on any specific issue though. The only one that was caught in his mind nearly every day was Sasha, and the drug she had given him. The constant need for it almost drove him mad. He was surely addicted to that strange mixture of Cocaine she had and the worst part about it was that he couldn't actually get it from anyone else. At least not anyone he knew. It was weighing heavy on my mind, and there were very few ways for him to de-stress that didn't involve pummeling someone's face into flesh pudding.
Tonight though, he would manage to find one such way. Very few people knew that Kale was a musician, mainly because he never really told anyone about it. It wasn't so much a secret that he hid it from someone, but he certainly didn't bring it up. It was an easy way for the large male to express himself, and it helped him to get his feelings out there. He didn't do it for the hopes of possibly getting famous in the future or for the chicks it could possibly bring him. Kale played for himself, and himself only. From word of mouth he had heard about an open mic session at a bar called 'Hole In The Wall', and that was where he found himself now.
Those chocolate hues would stare up toward the stage, he hadn't caught the name of the musician up on stage right now, but he had to say it wasn't all that bad. Of course, he didn't believe he was all that special himself. Kale never had much faith in his own abilities when it came to music, which was probably why he never really put it out there. He only planned to play a few covers tonight, because he wasn't ready to throw his life out there for others to hear about it. Soon enough the male on stage would take his leave, and Kale would move toward the stage. Jared's old acoustic guitar strapped to his back as he stepped up to take the empty place in front of the mic.
As soon as he stepped up there, Kale could feel their eyes upon him. His own brown hues would drop against the stage floor, as if he was trying his hardest to ignore all the people watching. He would settle himself down upon the stool, his left hand reaching up to adjust the mic so that it was a little closer to his mouth. It was then his hands would reach behind his back and grab the guitar and it's case, unzipping it before he pulled it out. He had tuned it before he came, so that he wouldn't have to worry about it before he played. With a deep breath, the large junior would speak into the mic briefly before his hands started to strum the chords of his guitar.
"I just wanna play a couple songs.. The first is called 'Best of You'.."
Soon enough he would begin to sing out, his voice sounding incredibly close to Dave Ghrol's, just a little deeper. But those who listened would realize that he was putting some emotion into it. His hands keeping to the tempo, playing the chords as they came to Kale's mind.
"I've got another confession to make I'm your fool Everyone's got their chains to break Holdin' you
Were you born to resist or be abused? Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you? Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Are you gone and onto someone new? I needed somewhere to hang my head Without your noose You gave me something that I didn't have But had no use I was too weak to give in Too strong to lose My heart is under arrest again But I break loose My head is giving me life or death But I can't choose I swear I'll never give in I refuse.
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you? Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?"
Kale would continue on playing, singing the remainder of the song. Once he finished he'd take a small breather before he started up his next. Those eyes glancing toward the crowds for the first time since he had gotten up there. It felt a little awkward with everyone watching, but it wasn't for them. He had to do this for himself. It was one of the few ways for him to fight away insanity.

Reira was just spending the night at a local 'bar', a local establishment where a lot of teenagers and young adults hung out. It was apparently extremely popular, and Reira, being the lonely new-comer was hoping to just blend in somehow. Then again, she wasn't exactly hoping to join the 'popular' clique, she was some kind of...maverick for now. Reira had entered the place and found that it was already pretty busy, but luckily she had found a seat near the bar counter. It just so happened that there was an open-mic event today. Ordering a drink she just sat there blaming herself for a poor choice in clothing. Her red top was attracting a lot of unwanted attention from annoying guys, and evil glares from girls.
It wasn't as if the top was slutty or anything. It was quite modest! Reira even wore a white tank top underneath it. Either way, she sent people away for a good 10 minutes before people start getting the idea that she wasn't looking to hook up with a guy. It wasn't long before Kale had hit the stage with his guitar. Reira sipped her drink as she turned her attention the guy on the stage.
'Mm he's kinda cute,' Reira would think to herself, clearly interested in what this guy had to offer for the audience. 'Let's just hope he has a good voice.'
Reira was a musician herself! Not exactly the best of the best of course, but she knew a thing or two about music, and her voice wasn't too shabby, if she'd say so herself. The mood was light and calm until the guy started playing his song. The first note and first verse already struck a chord in Reira, Pun intended.
She was surprised by his strong voice, and the fact that the song was talking about someone getting the best of you. Stuff about struggle, and pride, repression and all other sorts of issues. Then again, the song was up to the audience's interpretation, and it just so happened that the song seemed to reflect Reira's emotions as of late.
When the guy had finished his cover songs, Reira felt compelled to just talk to him. She'd figured that he was an interesting guy, maybe, just maybe she'll be able to find someone she could talk to in this city.
"Hey, you have a great voice...and great song choices too."

Before he knew it his time was up. Apart from best of you, he had played another little known song. But that was it for him, he had played enough for the night. Some people would clap for him, others would pay no attention to the male who had just played his heart out for them. In the end it didn't matter to Kale, because it was all for himself. None of what they said or thought about him matter. As soon as he had finished up, his guitar would have been placed back in the case and then Kale would zip it up and move away from the stool. He wasn't quite ready to leave yet, though. It was time for something to drink.
He would set his eyes upon the bar and head straight for it. As his large frame slipped through the crowds, he'd catch word of a few people trying to call out to him. Some girls trying to get him to stop and chat, but he wasn't in it for the attention. Kale would ignore them, pushing past without so much as a word. When he approached the bar, he would give a small sigh before settling down upon one of the stools and rapping his knuckles against the counter-top to get the tender's attention.
"Uhh.. Two shots of whiskey."
Those brown hues would settle upon the counter-top, completely oblivious to the female nearby. It was almost as if he was completely spacing out, or thinking hard about something. Truth be told, he was reliving the songs he just played in his head. He did it sometimes, because it seemed to relax him. And there were very few things in this world that had that kind of effect on him. He'd place some money on the bar top and soon enough his shots would arrive. Just in time to hear a female's voice float into his ear.
Hey, you have a great voice...and great song choices too.
"Oh.. Uh, Thanks I guess."
Instead of looking over to see who was speaking to him, the junior would grab his first shot of whiskey lift it to his lips, knocking it back quickly before slapping the empty shot glass back down upon the counter. Only then would those brown hues shift and settling upon the female to his left, his right hand would lift to rub at the 5 o'clock shadow he had developed. Her beauty nearly knocked him off the stool and onto the ground. But he'd never admit that to her. Instead it would seem more like he wasn't all that interested, as if he had a lot on his mind and seemed to hold a heavy burden.
"Not often I get up in front of people and do that kind of thing.. You should feel special."

The strong silent type, huh?
If Reira had to label herself, she'd probably be 'the girl that is trying to relive her glory days'. Okay so that wasn't exactly a common label, but Reira didn't want to think of herself as a loner, or some kind of maverick just yet! But one thing's for sure, she was glad this guy was nothing like her ex-boyfriend or dad. She just tended to be drawn to someweird people sometimes! He was just quiet, stoic, and seemed to be in deep thought. Don't get her wrong, he wasn't an emo kid, no, but he just looked troubled, until of course, he made a remark that made Reira chuckle.
"Not often I get up in front of people and do that kind of thing.. You should feel special."
"Oh?" Reira would say with her eyebrows raised in question with a joking tone. "I sure am blessed to hear a fallen angel sing."
Reira almost kicked herself for sounding so cheesy and regreted it once the words left her mouth. She wasn't exactly used to talking to guys, usually they talked to her and did all the talking too. They didn't care if Reira would say anything or not, just as long as she keeps them company. She didn't like that, so here she was talking to some cute guy and making a fool out of herself. Great, smooth move, now she knows how guys feel around pretty girls.
"Y-yeah, you probably think I'm weird now..." Reira's say her eyes darting back to her drink before she finished it in a gulp hoping that it'll just wash away her shame.

I sure am blessed to hear a fallen angel sing.
Kale would manage to tear his eyes from her, glancing back toward his other shot. He contemplated just downing it right then, but instead decided to hold off a little longer. His right arm would grab at the strap of his guitar case before he'd slip it down and place it against the stool he was sitting on. He didn't think he'd leave the bar for a little bit, so there was no sense of keeping it there. His elbows would soon drop against the surface of the counter just in time to hear the girl speak to him once again.
Y-yeah, you probably think I'm weird now...
"Weird? I wouldn't say weird.. But I think you pegged me as something I'm not,"
After he had spoke, he would grip his shot and down it quickly again to feel the burn as the liquid slid down his throat. Lately he found himself drinking a lot more often then he usually did, but maybe it was just for him to cope. He didn't really know anything other then drugs and alcohol. They seemed to numb the pain and help him ignore the past, the dark feeling that constantly haunted him from within. But he would speak shortly after his empty glass tapped against the bar top once again.
"I'm far from an angel.."
A lot closer to the devil..
As his elbows rested against the smooth counter below them, his head would turn to face the female nearby. For a brief moment those chocolate eyes would study her briefly, taking her image in. He couldn't believe just how many attractive females he had encountered so far in this city. Kale kinda wished he had that luck in Detroit, maybe he would have had more of a social life there then. Maybe he wouldn't have been so uncomfortable around the females then. One might take someone like Kale to be a ladies man, but he was far from it. Hell, the dude hadn't ever even had a girlfriend!
"If anything, you look more like you could fit the part."

Reira kept her honey brown orbs on the guy next to her. There was just something about him that seemed mysterious. The way he spoke only made her want to know him more too. Perhaps she was falling into the little " I like mysterious guys" era of her teenage years. Or maybe it was the fact that she subconsciously realizes that they both share some melancholic emotion underneath it all. She was surprised when he said that he wasn't some kind of angel and that she was. Reira let out a laugh at his words. It was a loud 'hah' all of a sudden and caused her quickly compose herself as she raised her hand to cover her mouth in slightl surprise.
"No, I guess I can safely say that we're both don't suit the part of angels."
No one ever called her an angel before, never. It was just really funny, and ironic at the same time. Oh how she wanted to be one, but she was just another girl that was in a messed up world. She then turned to the bartender and pointed at her empty cup, signaling a refill.
"So..." Reira'd say drumming her fingers on the countertop and stopped as she began to speak again, "What's your name, stranger?"
It wasn't long before she saw someone she didn't exactly want to see. A creepy stalker dude from her old highschool in Boston. He'd just always be there, everywhere just well, watching. It was hella creepy and he seemed to know that she was here, just like how he knew she moved here to San Diego. Reira released her hair from the pony tail and used her hair as some kind of shield as she covered part of her face. She turned to face Kale with a small meek smile as if nothing's wrong.

No, I guess I can safely say that we're both don't suit the part of angels.
Kale would smirk slightly again keeping those brown orbs of his focused upon the counter-stop his elbows currently rested against. His fingers would slowly begin to tap, low rhythmic sounds that couldn't really be heard over all the banter, but Kale could feel the beat and that was all that mattered. His eyes would close for the moment as he dropped his head, Kale's left hand lifting to prop it up near his chin. The words the female next to him spoke were surely true, at least on his end. Anyone who described Kale as an angel only proved that they knew absolutely nothing about him.
"So... What's your name, stranger?
Kale hadn't even noticed the female was practically doing the exact same thing he had been doing against the bar top with his fingers, that was until she started to speak and he had glanced over to catch it just before she stopped. His fingers would continue to do what they did, those slightly bloodshot brown eyes soon dropping slightly to meet Reira's. Usually when someone asked his name, he gave them a hard time about it. But tonight was just one of those nights where he didn't feel like playing games with people. Instead he would just tell the girl straight up.
"Kale. And what about yours, gorgeous?"
After his reply and question rolled off the tip of this Junior's tongue, Kale's right hand would stop it's tapping only to knock against the bar top once again and then wave his hand to get the attention of the bartender. One more Kale would order some shots, this time there were four though. As soon as they would be placed in front of him, Kale's left hand would grip on and slide it across the smooth surface of the counter top and stop it in front of the girl. It was just an offer, he wasn't going to force it down her throat if she didn't want it.

It was strange that they were already throwing little cute names around, stranger and gorgeous. Reira considered actually just calling him stranger from now on even though he had introduced himself as Kale. Reira couldn't help but feel attracted to the guy, maybe it was cause he was cute, or she was just acting up again. Yeah, she had her episodes. She was one of those girls, or people for that matter. The ones that don't feel enough compassion and affection from her friends or family that she turned her troubles to random hook ups or outings. Reira wanted the habit to stop but moving to a new place every year or twice a year didn't help her in establishing social connections and what was once a silly immature game became an addiction.
Kale ordered the four shots and slid one over the countertop as a rough sound resonated as the small cup scratched across the surface. Reira stopped it with the tip of her pointer finger and gave him a sly smirk lifting the cup and raising it giving Kale a small nod. Her fingertips held the top of the tiny little cup as she swung it back and forth in a small motion before she downed it. The burn was instant, and so was the warmth. That was the good thing about alcohol. Mm, the warmth.
It was safe to say that Reira had a high tolerance for alcohol consumption. She had been quite a partygirl, after all she hungout with those popular girly girls most of her life. Seen a team of drunk cheerleaders before? Not cool.
"Mmm..." Reira'd say as she'd place the cup down before she would introduce herself and joke, "Thanks for the drink Kale, I'm Reira, its nice to meet you. So, are you always playing the mysterious musical stranger role or are you just being nice to me 'cause y'know I bet you have a lot of girls running after ya if you sing them a little something something."

Thanks for the drink Kale, I'm Reira, its nice to meet you.
Kale would have lifted his own shot up to his lips to match hers, sucking the liquid down in an instant. He's drop his empty glass back down, nodding to her after the first little bit of her words caught his ear. He had to admit he enjoyed her company so far. She didn't seem to be most of the other females he had met so far. They had all been unique in their own ways, and Reira was no different. And of course that wasn't a bad thing, the most experience he had talking to different kinds of people, the better he would get at this kind of thing right?
So, are you always playing the mysterious musical stranger role or are you just being nice to me 'cause y'know I bet you have a lot of girls running after ya if you sing them a little something something.
"Heh. I actually don't play too often for anyone.. You're one of the few who knows I even play an instrument, here. I just recently got to the city and I'm not very good when it comes to making friends."
It was then that Kale's legs would begin to slide to his left and the large male would shift on his stool so that he could face the girl, his right elbow dropping against the edge of the counter top while his left would hang at his side for the moment as those brown hued orbs settled upon Reira's face. That left hand would lift briefly as a couple of his fingers would raise toward the collar of his and pull it slightly as if he was hot and trying to breath a little bit more.
"That still doesn't meant the ladies still down swarm.."
What he said was meant to be a joke, of course there was a ring of truth to it as well. Maybe it was just the way he acted, or maybe he was just too damn sexy. He couldn't quite figure it out, but it seemed that there were a fair share of females he had run into him that seemed to be at least a little interested in him. Then again, if he wasn't punching your face in or berating you with names he guessed he could see he was a little interesting.

"Heh. I actually don't play too often for anyone.. You're one of the few who knows I even play an instrument, here. I just recently got to the city and I'm not very good when it comes to making friends."
Reira's eyes widened a bit in surprise. She never really expected that. Well, she was shocked by the fact that his friends didn't know too much about him being able to play an instrument. Which really means that he must be a closed off type of guy, one that doesn't open up. In turn this led to another series of thought that she was kinda lucky. When Reira was opening up, whoever she's opening up too isn't very lucky...they'll just be super annoyed. And hey, apparently he had just gotten to the city as well. Just like her!
Kale would then turn towards her, he fully faced her and she'd just turn towards him, but she continued to rest her chin on her knuckles where her arm was supported by the table. It was as if him physically opening towards her was also signifying him opening up. Or maybe it's just her, but it made her feel special to think so! Her system was buzzing now, the alcohol was strong and she was beginning to feel it's affects.
"That still doesn't meant the ladies still down swarm.."
"I'll bet tough guy," Reira'd say with a small chuckle before she leaned in and tapped him on the tip of his nose before she leaned back in her upright position, "And hey, you're the only one that's new, and you're wrong about making friends. 'Cause in my opinion you're doing pretty good so far."
Though, Reira could not say that for herself either. She might be a persuasive and charismatic person, but sometimes life picks you up and drops you off at the highest point and you just lie broken on the ground. It'll take awhile before she could pick herself up again and pull her pieces back together.

I'll bet tough guy,
He would watch as she leaned in and touched his nose before straightening back up. Kale would straighten up a little himself, turning his head and directing his arm toward another on of his shots. Once again he would push one toward the girl and leave it before grabbing his own and downing it quickly. Kale didn't plan on drinking much more, there had already been enough drinking in the last week or so to last him a life time. Tonight he'd take it easy for once. Besides, if he had too much he didn't to get a little violent. He would hate to ruin a decent night with some stupid outburst.
And hey, you're the only one that's new, and you're wrong about making friends. 'Cause in my opinion you're doing pretty good so far.
"I guess.. I just don't tend to talk to people."
He wouldn't add the part about usually punching the once he did talk to him in the face afterward. He didn't feel the need to gloat or throw out the fact that he was a bad boy of sorts. It was clear enough that he gave off the vibe as it was. Kale definitely wasn't always this friendly to the people he met. Reira had just been lucky enough to catch him in one of his rare moments. Maybe he was being nice because she was one of the only people in the city that knew he played guitar.

"I guess.. I just don't tend to talk to people."
Reira raised her brow in question. Yep, the quiet, mysterious bad boy. He was the type that teenage girls would fall for initially. The ones that they would fall for and then attempt to change. All girls crave that attention, to love a bad boy that would give them a good adventure and hopefully in the midst of it they'll be the key factor in changing them- to make them good guys. The girls hope they'll be the reason that the guy would be different. Although, most of the time, reality doesn't work out that way and girls get hurt. Then again, to be talking so peacefully, Reira wasn't going to doubt Kale 100%, although she wasn't going to trust him to be an angel either. He even said so himself, he was not angel.
"Really? No worries I guess you'll just have to meet more people like me. People that are more assertive and willing to take a little bit more action. Although, I have to say, I'm not always like this."
Reira promised herself that the shot that Kale offered her would be the last, if she had anymore, she'd probably start stumbling, although she was sure that her steps would start getting slightly wobbly. She was still sober, mind you, but alcohol doesn't leave the system unharmed in anyway, especially when it's whiskey. She'd finish the shot in a gulp before she thanked Kale again. The buzz is numbing, that's the 'good' effect of alcohol.
"Most people are kind of put off by the way I talk.."
"I'll assume that I'm getting some special treatment today cause you have no problem with the way you talk now. How would you talk to other people usually, maybe I can give you some advice." Reira'd say with a smile as soothing music played in the background.

OOC: I guess just figure the soothing music was cut short when I went on stage just after your post. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDsECGuZAF4&feature=related"Hey man, is this an open mic session right now?""Yeah, something like that. Guy just done a few minutes ago so it's open right now." "Mind if I play a little?""Nah, go ahead. But, uh...where's your guitar?" "I don't play guitar."And with that I shuffled past the manager, stepping up onto the tiny stage. The crowd was oblivious to my entrance, most of them talking quietly amongst themselves. A few turned their heads my way but then quickly returned to their drinks and conversations. I didn't blame them, since I appeared like little more than a bar worker: faded jeans, leather boots, an old thread bare shirt. No instrument. But I went up to the mic anyway, tested it, adjusted it for my standing height, then reached into my back pocket. I pulled out a weathered, dull silver colored harmonica, dented in one spot with a hint of rust on the other end. Licking my lips and cupping the tool in my palms, I pulled the harp to my mouth. What came out was something different, something old. If what the man played before was the modern version of the blues, this was it's great-great grand daddy. The sound echoed through the Hole in the Wall, catching people off guard and stopping their tongues in mid sentence. One by one they turned their heads to look at the young brown haired man on the stage, wailing on a harmonica with as much soul as a former slave. Eventually all but a few conversations died down and it was just me and the mic and the harp, the metal hot against my lips. My chest heaved as I played on, eyes shut tightly and swaying every once in a while with the tune. No words, no lyrics. The music was all that needed to be heard. I came to the conclusion of my song and let the final not linger and die, the sound reverberating off the close walls. I pulled the instrument from my mouth and swallowed hard, mouth dry. No one clapped, no one whistled. No one was sure what to do. It wasn't the typical sound of open mic night. It wasn't even typical of this era. It was something else. "I could use a drink." I said into the mic, then pocketed the harp and stepped lightly off the stage. I walked through the crowd, listening as everyone came back from inside their minds and began talking again. I took a seat at the bar next to a pretty brown eyed girl, just like in that classic rock song. But she seemed preoccupied with the guitarist from before so I snagged the bartender's attention and asked him for the cheapest whiskey he had. I'd been traveling through California for a while and I'd yet to find a place serving decent moonshine, or even any moonshine. Whiskey or bourbon was the next best option. He brought me a shot's worth in a big sipping glass and I wet my lips with the amber liquor. Yeah, that hit the spot. The bartender, a older man with thinning hair, watched for a minute before saying "Where'd you learn to play like that, kid? You don't get sounds like that from practice alone." "Yer right," I replied. "But anyone can play blues. Some just have more to sing about then others." I took another sip and pointed down the bar. "Like that other fella down there."

I'll assume that I'm getting some special treatment today cause you have no problem with the way you talk now. How would you talk to other people usually, maybe I can give you some advice.
"Let's just say you caught me on a good day."
Kale's ears had caught the harmonica but he hadn't really turned to pay attention to who was using it. Instead he just took in the sounds while he talked to the pretty female next to him. This night was far more relaxing then he had planned. It almost made him feel normal for once. Of course he knew he would more then likely just fall right back into his moody self tomorrow. He could at least try to savior the moment and have a good time while he could.
"I'm usually a dickhead.."
Kale would give a small shrug as he said it. He knew what he was and the teenager had no plans to try and fool anyone. Especially Reira, who only seemed to want to be a friend to him. Kale knew he was a foul person, there was no use to try and hide it. He felt that if he saw her again anyways, she would eventually learn to the full extent just how bad he could be sometime. The large male just hoped he never ended up making a mistake and taking his anger out on her. Kale's glance would fall upon Reira once again as the harmonica died down and was soon replaced by something else.
Yer right, But anyone can play blues. Some just have more to sing about then others. Like that other fella down there.
Kale's focus would sway from the beauty before him, down the bar toward her other side at the male would had spoke out. He could tell there wasn't anything wrong about what he was saying, so he would make sure he didn't make any unnecessary comments. Instead he would rap his knuckles against the counter again and order up two more shots of whiskey. The first would be picked up and brought hovering around his lips before he spoke out.
"I'll drink to that."
The youth would knock his shot back and drop the glass to the counter, his eyes focusing upon the other once again. He was contemplating drinking it, but he would grab it first, turning back to face Reira as he held it between them. He would smirk toward her as his settled upon hers and he spoke.
"You gonna drink this for me, or do I have to get totally shit-faced?"

Reira chuckled at the brutal confession Kale had blurted out. His word choice was quite rough around the edges, and blunt, but it got his point across quite well. It would seem that her intuition was correct - that he was having a good day and she was getting the special treatment. Oh joy! Though, she had to admit, she secretly liked being the one getting the exclusive VIP reception of sorts. The soothing music in the background stopped when the sound of a harmonica filled the bar. The sound of soulful blues reached the ears of Reira and she enjoyed its presence by savoring the gut- wrenching bittersweet tone that harmonicas seemed to have.
She and Kale had continued talking when he gave a shrug. The blues song ended and moments later, another presence seemed to have joined their company.

The corner of Reira's lips curled upwards creating a small amused smile as she turned to face the new addition to the bar duo. She quickly observed him, just like anyone else. He was a stranger, of course she'd take a look, after all she might choose to get to know these guys later on.
"I'll drink to that."
Reira watched as the bartender served Kale another round of shots and she just shook her head slightly in amusement. What a guy. People these days can sure hold their alcohol. The light thump on the counter signaled that he was finished his drink but that didn't mean Reira was, according to Kale.
"You gonna drink this for me, or do I have to get totally shit-faced?"
She could take it..not! Reira laughed as she waved her hand in front of her.
"How 'bout offering that to mr. blues there, he seems to like fine whiskey more than I do, and I had more than enough alcohol tonight, stranger."
She'd wait for Kale to slide it over to her before she relayed it and slid it over to Farren if Kale wanted to do so. Reira'd then rest her elbow on the counter top again, leaning her chin into her palm and looking at the two guys with a grin as she turned to look at both of them, it was nice to have company, especially when they seemed to be just as mellow as she was.
"So what's your name? I'm Reira."
