When it comes to Gaelion or Gabriel, Jacques will become very bitter and cynical, and will act extremely cold, almost spiteful, because not only did he lose his oldest daughter, but her death could've been prevented. He can also be very suave, sometimes flirty, but deep down, he will only love his wife, Victoria, and still cares very deeply for her.

Jacques was born into a filthy rich family, him being the first-born son and older brother. His father was the son of the president of Seran Corporations located in Lyon, France, and he was currently the vice-president. He worked in the company and eventually took over as president and CEO from his father, Jacques' grandfather. It was at a formal party his father hosted to celebrate Maximilian taking over the company that he met his future wife and Jacques' mother. They fell in love and 6 years later, they got married. 4 years later, his wife gave birth to their first son, Jacques and 4 years later, his little brother, Gaelion, was born.

Jacques grew up in Lyon, and although his grandfather still held supreme power in the company, despite no longer being the president, he had some free time, and decided to teach Jacques fencing when he was 7, since he had been a fencing champion, and had learned it from his grandfather. He taught Jacques the basic techniques, and as he grew, he taught him the more complex techniques. Jacques had also been enrolled in one of the most prestigious schools, so every afternoon, after he came home from school, he would practice with his grandfather, he was a kind and patient teacher, and continued to teach Jacques until he entered university.

When Jacques was 13, he entered into high school, and was always at the top of his class. When he was 18, he graduated at the top of his class as always, and was the Valedictorian of his class, receiving a scholarship to study at the University of Paris V, going into a business major and English minor. It took him 8 years, and during that time, when he was 20, he met and fell in love with his future wife, Victoria Laurent. 2 years after they had met, they got married, and two years later, Victoria gave birth to twins, the first twin that came out was a boy, and seconds later, the other twin came out, a girl. Victoria named the boy Uriel, and Jacques named the girl Aubrey. A year later, Victoria gave birth to another beautiful baby girl, whom she named Chantel. After he graduated, he worked alongside his little brother in their family's company, looking forward to taking over the company when their father retired, since he was the oldest son, life couldn't be better, right?

Wrong.

That couldn't be more far from the truth. When Jacques was 28, his father called him and Gaelion to his private office, since he had something important to tell them. When they were both seated, he announced he had decided who would take over the company once he retired. Gaelion. Not Jacques, the oldest son, Gaelion. Jacques at first, was completely stunned, but then his angry took over, and though he fought to keep his anger in check, he still stormed out of the room, furious. After this, Jacques became completely bitter towards his little brother, he had worked so hard towards his goal, striving to show his father he was worthy to take over the company, only to have it all taken away from him in an instant.

Although he hated his little brother, he did not let his resentment affect the love he held for his wife, and although Jacques loved all three of his children, he spent more time with his two daughters, teaching the two of them fencing when they were old enough, while Victoria spent time with Uriel. Though it seemed that Jacques and Victoria spent more time worrying about Aubrey more than any of their children. He enrolled her into a private school, and sent Chantel to the same school when she was old enough, he wanted the both of them to have the best education possible. He also had them learn English, effectively having them become bilingual.

When Jacques learned his little brother had been killed, Uriel was the next in line for the throne, but just as Jacques had his title snatched from him, so to, did Uriel have it snatched from him, by none other than Gaelion's son, Jacques' nephew, Gabriel Seran. Another reason for Jacques to despise his little brother's bloodline was notched in, and it seemed Uriel was just as bitter as Jacques had been years ago. Jacques however, placed his bitterness aside as he watched with pride as Aubrey excelled in school, always earning excellent grades. But not everything goes according to plan. When Aubrey had turned 17, Jacques learned she wanted to move away, go to school overseas. Although it sounded like a good opportunity, Jacques was adamant, he wouldn't allow her to move, especially when she wasn't even finished high school yet. Instead of obeying his wishes, Aubrey rebelled, and soon had done a number of things that effectively threatened to ruin his reputation. With no other option, Jacques enrolled Aubrey into a boarding school, but she never arrived at her destination, she had taken a detour and ended up at San Francisco, where Gabriel was currently at.

For months, Jacques was unaware that Aubrey was in the United States, while Chantel, who had worked so hard to desperately gain his attention, had started to notice her and give her the attention she so desperately sought. And then Jacques' world shattered. He learned from his best friend who had moved to San Francisco, that a girl had been killed... his daughter. Aubrey. She had been murdered. Although Jacques placed a brave face on, the moment he was alone, he broke down and cried. Jacques could not however, bring himself to blame Gabriel at the moment, because if he hadn't cared so much about his reputation, he wouldn't have sent Aubrey to a boarding school, and he would still have his sweet, dear oldest daughter. His grief only intensified when he learned his daughter's killer had been part of the mafia, and as a result, the case had been closed, for the police did not want to deal with the mafia, and the girl had been let go. Jacques arranged a funeral for Aubrey, making it a closed-casket, due to the wound she sustained, and he feared if he saw his daughter's face one last time, he would break down.

The pain of losing Aubrey caused Jacques and Victoria to play the blame game, both of them blaming themselves for her death, and in the end, the two of them separated. Victoria left for Paris, while Jacques remained in Lyon, Chantel and Uriel having chosen to stay with him at the Seran mansion. A year passed, with Jacques becoming extremely bitter after the grief had passed, he was bitter towards his nephew, who instead of sending Aubrey back the moment she wound up in San Francisco "accidentally," he allowed her to stay. Then one day, Jacques received an e-mail from the Headmaster of Public High School #774, Mr. Thierry Durand, who offered him a job as a English teacher of his school. Although Jacques had a cushy life, barely having to lift a finger, he needed a change of scenery, for Lyon held painful memories for him... of Aubrey. Although he knew Chantel and Uriel would not be pleased to move, they followed him to San Diego, and enrolled the two of them in the high school, and bought a beach side mansion, he could at least have them live in style here, since he unfairly forced them to move with him, and learned that the girl who killed his daughter, was here in San Diego as well...[/ul]
