Hey guys, knightmare13 here to give you a taste of a little something I'm working on. As you all know I'm a bit of a writer and possess a fair hand at it as well. So I'm gonna give you guys this teaser of a book I'm working on and I want you guys to be honest would you read it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. The city has always looked good from up here. I thought to as I looked out over the city from the top of my apartment building. The city's light shined brightly and the sound of cars passing through was soothing. There's no better place than right here. I thought again as I reached at my back and pulled what was hanging from my thinly weaved black Kevlar pants I wore.
It was my mask I pulled from my pants and I held it in front of my face, my hoodie; which hung to about halfway past my thighs, swayed slightly in the light breeze of the night. I must've looked at my mask for more than ten minutes, debating for a good portion of that time if I should do this. I threw those thoughts away after I said only one phrase, "I already dug it out."
I slipped my mask on and it was done, Daniel Marquez was gone; vanished from the world, as far as anyone knew. I revived a piece of my personality slipping that mask on again, a piece that was locked away, a piece that now stood on the edge of everything; especially the edge of the buildings roof, a piece that didn't care how far up it was we're doing this. A piece that just walked off the edge. I'm almost there.
Any body else at this point would've started to scream and have their life flash past their eyes; I didn't, this was my bike I was riding right here. Putting this suit on again made it that way.
I plummeted past several floors; a few people saw this and while some gawked and others ran to grab their phones to call the police. I couldn't keep myself from smiling as that all happened. The ground was coming up fast, but I was faster. I grabbed at the back of the belt which held up my pants; at the back of the belt was a small collapsible grapnel was attached to it, I twisted in the air and shot it upward aiming to hook it on a fire escape. Secured.
I hit the ground with no sound. Landed with my left foot planted on the ground and leg bent almost up to my chest, the balls of my right foot on the ground as my right leg was outstretched. My right hand was on the ground as well, my torso was bent forward and my left arm was in the air still holding on to the wire of my grapnel. "Part one: Done." I said; my voice changed deeper, gruffer I was shooting for Clint Eastwood.
I yanked the wire of my grapnel and it came down back to the back of my belt and I sprinted out into the darkness again.
It's good to be back...
