OOC: Location: Balboa Park – This significant horticultural and cultural resource has more than 15,000 trees, 14 specialty gardens, nearly 100 arts, educational, recreational, social and sports organizations, 14 museums and is home to the World Famous San Diego Zoo and Old Globe Theatre.A Pensive Smasher The Balboa Park was relatively deserted today. Talk had gone around of a recent draw of more shady activity occurring at random intervals of the day inside the park, driving its typical denizens away for a time. Smoke could be seen from several, deliberately burned down trees, surrounded by patches of dead grass. The art that was typically set up about and around in the park was primarily desecrated in favor for a hiding, hunting, or territorial ground setup.
...And, that's where the boy came into the picture. There, surrounded by several unconcious people of varying ages and several splatters of blood was a boy. He sat on top of a large rock, his legs crossed and his elbows to the forearms resting in his lap as he sat hunched forward. His long, blood-crusted, red hair was all about his head in an unkempt looking mannerism, covering his face primarily. His black shirt looked actually "clean" for a homeless looking person, his military combat boots mildly maintained, torn jeans sort of patched up in a makeshift mannerism, aviator jacket spruced up to a degree... Aside from the recent mess he'd brought onto himself, this was one of the cleanest times he had been his whole life.
...He was... staring, with his eye, thinking about something...
On top of the rock, he stared into a more swamp-like part of the park... just staring. Just staring, even as some of the people he had knocked out started to wake up and stalk away...
...With one person getting up, with a huge rock in his hands, hefting it up to hit the boy in the back of the head---

She had been enjoying the sunny day, wandering around getting things for a surprise assault on the park. She knew that someone enjoyed spending time there, and being as difficult to find as a needle in a pile of clown wigs, Addie was well aware of the fact it was time to strike! Tackle the boy, make sure he's been taking care of himself, brush his hair, and feed the guy. Knowing him, he wouldn't be keeping good track of himself. Arming herself with a first aid kit, her wallet, and a picnic basket.
Sighing, the brunette looked down at the cement before looking to the blue sky and smiling. Of course she was happy to see him again, although there was a little bit of worry in the shadows. Ever wondering if all would be alright, especially with all the rumours flying about. She'd heard them wandering down the street and even at work... Never good. They all seemed to be about something, although she never paid too much mind to it.. Since she could guess the root of the problem. Being Addie there was the hope that it was all a misunderstanding, or she'd have to whoop someones sorry little ass.
LORDY! The age of nineteen and already sounding like a cross mother. Where did her time go? Just as she thought she was getting old too fast, there it was.. SOMETHING SO MAGNIFICENT... She just had to have it, it would be perfect for the day. Perhaps a little fun for them, or just her, who knew? Walking into the store, the German girl purchased the crimson coloured kite with a gold coloured dragon on it. It looked pretty cool to her, mind you, she loved gold and red. The kite along with some super bouncy balls, always something fun to throw around in the apartment when bored.
Finally the closer she got to the park, the more barren it seemed... Although it really was the smoke that had caught her attention... WHUT FECK!? There was a look of disappointment on her face as she headed into the park, passing the odd beaten person. Part of her wanted to stop and offer him first aid, but she didn't. There was someone more important in mind.. if he was hurt.. SOMEONE WAS GETTING IT D<
Picking up the pace, she'd break into a bit of a run, looking from left to right for a sign of her little buddy. No sign thus far, she could only hope...BURNED TREES WHUT!? Take your eyes off them for a while and they set things on fire! NO DESSERT FOR HIM!... >__> Okay maybe... but no seconds... but he doesn't eat.. PPPFFTTT! Of course she wasn't going to punish him, or get mad.. well... That mad.
It wasn't until the sea of bodies came into sight that she saw him. Sitting there on a rock, it was kind of adorable, yet at the same time she was worried if he was hurt.. Wait, that kid could survive anything, like staying in the school while sick. Lordy. His back was in her direction.. SNEAKY BASTARD ALERT! Reaching into the basket, she grabbed the super bouncy balls and dropped everything, throwing the balls at the man as she ran at him. All the while hoping to peg him in the head.
ANYTHING TO PROTECT LITTLE TUVLAN!
"That's dirty!" Addie yelled as she got in close and gave the persona a boot to the back, well of course that is if he hadn't moved. "I wouldn't lay a finger on him ever again, if I were you.." Addie hissed as she scowled at the stranger. NO ONE and she meant no one! They didn't get to touch him in her presence. Or they could get hurt.
Like a mother bear, she was ready to rip someone's arms off... Even if she didn't have the strength to go that far, she could try.

A Moment's Confusion The man with the rock was just beginning to heft up the rock over his back and over his head---*THWOCK*"That's dirty!""OHGOD" ---*CRUSH*
...Went the rock on his head... BEFORE he was *BOOT*ed in the back... over and onto Tuvlan."I wouldn't lay a finger on him ever again."There was a growl, as the boy was still registering the voice, his arms suddenly reaching over his head for the body that had been booted onto him, before... *THROW*ing him some lengths into the swamp. Rapidly pushing himself to get up he twirled around, fists up.
"SMAS---..."
...The boy stared at her, as the throwee struggled to get out of the swamp and was more or less screaming for his own sake.
A tear... tears welled up in the boy's eyes...
"...S...Smash...?" 'Is that... you?'

She was fuming, there was no way one could sneak up on her dear friend and get away with it, especially since they had the intent to hurt him. Although she was just as bad, even if she did yell to get his attention. Regardless neither she or the attacker were in the right. Sadly, she was being a hypocrite and didn't care! No one harmed him while she was around. Or at least she could hope to protect him a little; in what ever way she could. She watched as the man went flying, the rock hitting him. Oh yes, it nice to see someone stupid get their just desserts, okay maybe it was a little cruel.. BUT HE STARTED IT... In her point of view.
The brunette turned her attention to Tuvlan, smiling as she looked up at him.
Of course he seemed okay, the kid was indestructible! AND TALL D<
She couldn't help but smile, hearing the young man's words, well.. word. She didn't care he didn't speak well, he was still a human and needed someone to look over him. Bright blue eyes locked on the red haired young'in. Like a cliche anime moment, they stood a distance apart, and she opened her arms to him. Like a mother beckoning her lost child back to her. A warm expression had taken over her face and her smile faintly showed her teeth. Dressed in her normal black and white outfit, with the shorts, white thigh high stockings, and black knee high boots. She hadn't changed at all, always lookign the same.
Just like that silly little red haired kid.
"It's nice to see you again. I thought you forgot about me."

OOC: So sorry! M.E.Q. on 259 was... >.<;;;!What Makes A Place Special? Her arms opened out to him. For a moment, the boy had to just stand there and stare, his mouth partially open, his eye large, brows high... tears growing larger. Mentally, he had referred to her as 'warmth' but the dictionaries and story books indicated things in context along the lines of 'mom,' 'mother,' 'caretaker,' and other terms. The hesitation was also there... he'd run out on her without so much as saying goodbye (well... 'saying' goodbye). He learned that from a few people, like... her... he was afraid to disappoint, afraid of the bad and hate if she chose not to like him anymore. But she was so... so inviting. Like a gravitational pull, his legs were slowly, but surely pulled to her, one step at a time."It's nice to see you again. I thought you forgot about me."'What a thing to say.'
He understood. His eye creased closed as it let down a silent stream and he finally made his way to her---carefully. If she'd let him, he'd hug her to him---perhaps accidentally lifting her up, due to his unchecked-checked strength. But he was checking himself, making it tight enough to squeeze, but gentle enough to not 'Smash.'
Of course, if there was any resistance to him lifting her up in the hug (seeing as how he was kind of lost in the moment), the boy would gently (but a little hurriedly) set 'her' down on her feet, where he'd continue to hug her for a moment, burrowing his face into her left shoulder.
D'aw.

"...H...Home."

She waited for a moment.. or two, just when she felt a little like a dumb ass, he'd move to her. That's what she thought. He'd hug her and even lift her off the ground.. O__O;; When he put her down, Addie hugged him back, rubbing her cheek against his as she looked over his shoulder. He's just so adorable! Although as she did so, one thing came to her attention... Hair hair hair hair. It was messy.. WHAT HAD SHE TOLD HIMMM!?
....
H-home?
He spoke! Stopping her silly movement of the cheek, the girl was silent for a moment. Addie couldn't help but smile, hugging him tightly, making sure not to squish him; even though she knew she couldn't.
Of course instead of raging,[since for the most part he had disarmed the rage] she'd have to make a mental note.
Note to self:
brushthatgoddamnhairandbeatitiintohishead.. HAIR BRUSH EQUALS=FRIEND OF LONG HAIR!
She'd sigh and pull from the hug, placing a hand on his head. PAT PAT. The brunette nodded and smiled again, still happy that he thought of her..as home? Yes, she was treating him like a pet, kind of. Although, she kept realizing.. SHE WASN'T SUPER TALL. He was standing before towering over her; not really but still. Maybe a few inches taller. She still felt like a mom, maybe she was, OH WELL! It was rewarding to see the smiles of her dear friends. ESPECIALLY HER LITTLE STRAY CAT TUVLAN.
She couldn't help but wonder why he left without telling her and of course why the little rascal hadn't bothered calling >__>;; Being the 'nice' person she was, the girl decided it would probably be best.. NOT to interrogate him, regardless of how badly she kind of wanted answers. Actually, it was just the nagging mom voice int he back of her head. While the good mother voice said: Let him tell you.. Don't pressure him you idiot! D<
A touching moment lost to the voices of worry that drifted about in her head, although it wasn't forgotten. Just simply misplaced for a few moments.
ANNSWERRRSS! How was he doing? where was he staying? WAS HE EATING PROPERLY? D< Was he eating his vegetables? Was he hurt? if so, WHO HURT HIM?D< and where could she find him. and various other questions followed by: smash!
Perhaps the time she had spent with him had rubbed off on her. That red head and his smash... so cute.
THE KITE! The noms ;w;
The question was, how far back did she discard them?
"Come on, let's get you something to eat. ha ha." Smile. smile.
She could only assume he was hungry.

Warmth Home. Safety. Assurance. The boy thought of many things... but he was reminded of how he first thought of her... how he first viewed "her" as. Simply, on the basic levels of necessity, she was "Warmth." But even the boy, especially the boy, who had rapidly begun to learn and understand things in his time since "The Big Sickness" began to understand that her value to himself was much more then this. There was deep, unspoken things relayed to him when she rubbed his cheek against him that was calming, comforting. Again, the long days of wandering passed from his mind and his attempt to reflect was dashed as a far smaller priority to the here and now.
He liked it, this act called "hugging." Very therapeutic. Very necessary to feel whole. Even so, he could understand the need when they both distanced it. It was impossible to do anything while parking in the act of "hug.""Come on, let's get you something to eat. ha ha."On a cue, his stomach growled. His left eye opened up wide, brow raised. In a nearly meditative state, he had forgotten (for a moment) his hunger---the last fight was massive, draining---and nearly ending up in him receiving a concussion (again) if... she... hadn't intervened. Still, there was some embarrassment to tend to first. Obliged with his newfound sense of shame since the time, the boy smiled nervously, while pocketing his hands, his face reddening slightly. He felt his natural bodily function wasn't an impressive thing to make verbalized in front of someone he held with such endearment.
Taking out his left hand and hunching his head forward, he beckoned his hand in a waving motion, as his mouth fumbled with the word...
'Lead the...' "ssm...way."

Ah ha ha, apparently her plan to bring food was a good a good one, since apparently her little street comrade was a hungry one. After such a fight, who wouldn't be? It looked like he had defeated many-a-people. That part didn't matter so much, mostly the state of him that bothered her. He was going to get sick if he stayed outside and didn't clean himself properly. Addie didn't even want to think of the last time his clothes had been washed , the last him he brushed his hair. If the mats god bad enough, they'd really hurt him... Not like random people in fights weren't doing their part in that. The girl was mostly happy that he seemed in better condition than she had originally feared.
Her blue eyes wandered, searching for the kite and basket in the grass. It wasn't until until the girl caught the sounds of his voice. Turning back to look at the young man, she'd smile. He was trying, it was amazing. Especially since he could only utter the work smash before, changing the pitch and tone in order to portray his thoughts. She wasn't surprised, anyone was capable of learning, maybe no one ever believed in him. Of course the girl didn't make an assumptions, the past it didn't matter to her, all she could be was group of her little stray cat.
Reaching up, she'd smile and pat him on the head. Although she then did clue into the standing posture of the red haired one. Shaking her head Addie, placed a hand on his shoulder and gently pushed him into an straighter pose. Bringing a hand under his chin, she'd gently bring his head up. There would be no slouching on her watch! "Don't slouch. You'll get taller if and feel better if you stand up straight." She spoke with a calm voice, not trying to nag, but at the same it was nagging her. Was she being too motherly? Who knew.
"Come on." Chuckling, the brunette took off across the grass, looking back at him for a moment before she reached the destination. Waving at him happily.
I do hope nothing spilled... Stupid rock guy.. Making me drop things..
With that she'd drop down into the grass, sitting beside the kite... All the while wondering, does he know how to fly one?

The Start of a Good Foundation As he followed after behind her, he suddenly saw her hand. Instinctively, he was about to shun away---he liked "play time" but... "play time" wouldn't feel right with her. Not his type of "play time" and he knew that.---
A pat.
It was simple, but affectionate. It conveyed a series of levels that the boy was only just beginning to understand---"Don't slouch. You'll get taller if and feel better if you stand up straight.""Grklh---"
Slouch? What was 'slouch'? He hadn't read a word that sounded off like that before a lot if at all. Still, like a cowed dog, he just eyed her, slowly relaxing before "her" hands quickly fixed that. The boy, in that instantly learned quickly what "she" was trying to do, but would find a difficulty in maintaining that. For the most part, the boy just found himself to be rather confused at the whole deal.
...It was easier to breathe..."Come on."With a renewed sense of urgency, the boy doubled after "her" falling onto his knees beside "her as "she" dropped into the grass, next to some... strange... looking object.
His eye was incapable of holding his continued confusion as he stared at "it" and then back to "her."
"..."
"...Smash...?

Watching in silence as her little stray cat looked from her to the kite. As she had suspected.. not really, but it was nice to feel smart. Apparently he didn't know what a kite was, even she knew. Back in German her father and mother had shown her how to fly one. Reaching out, she'd pat him on the head again, smiling away.. Yes, she'd smile even if his hair was mattered and a little icky. It didn't matter, she'd tend to that after their fun and games had all but passed. With her free hand she'd pull her picnic basket closer and then reach for the kite.
"This? Its a kite. It flies in the sky." She'd point up to the sky.. Hmm, maybe that wasn't the best explanation.
Would it be better to show him?
Getting up slowly, the brunette laughed." Here, I'll show you!" She sounded really happy. It had been so long since she had flown a kite... Addie could only hope that she could still do so. Running off into the field, she'd see a random person and ask of their assistance.
Of course they weren't looking hard enough, so they probably didn't see the young red haired boy. Holding the kite up, the dazed man watched as the girl took off, the string between them grew. With the breeze, he threw the kite into the air, watching as it glided above the girl for a while, with each bit of string she had let out, it went higher into the sky. When his task was done, stranger man just walked off, all the while hoping not to run into the red haired fighter. Isn't she a bit old for a kite? Kids now a days...
Standing in one place, Addie looked to sky, laughing as she turned slightly. Waving at the stray. color=goldenrod]"Look! It's flying!"[/color] Laughing, she'd point up to the kite. Placing both hands on the spool, she'd pull it tight and then to the left and again to the right. OH YEAH OM NOMS! Perhaps he was able to wait.. Although it did make Addie feel a little guilty... ;w;
"Wanna try?"

OOC: I had been meaning to do this in the first post but, I'll go ahead and do it it now---mainly, there will be some included "personal observations/thoughts" by "Tuvlan" that can be skipped. The Little Things There was a pat on the boy's head in reward for his look of confusion. Instinctively, he tucked in his head towards his body with a jolt at the touch, but caved into "her" touch within milliseconds. "Her" smiled comforted him with its reassurance. The boy's eye wandered up to the clouds and back down to the "thing" that "she" had in her hands, oblivious to her intent for the most part... and yet observing with incredible intent."This? Its a kite. It flies in the sky."... That was a kite? Kite. Fly. Sky. ...[/i] ---"Tuvlan" Thought--- The sky was the endless ceiling that soared up above them. This "sky" was inhabited by a collection of formless, apparently fluffy objects known as "clouds." Shapeless, aimless, in the time that he had spent observing them since the time of his "awakening" he found a kindred spirit in the essence of these things. However, as it was drilled into his head at an early age, the boy had the decency to know his basics in toiletry matters when it came to personal relief, unlike his "cloud" brethren who let their business spray everywhere. Then again, the boy's business was no where near as clean as the "clouds" business and was actually consumable.
Just one aspect of the sky. One aspect of the cloud. Clouds. Much like a ceiling, there was something beyond it, called the stars, the moon, the sun as the boy had read... but further thinking on that matter would give the boy a headache. Instead, he focused his thoughts on "her" other words. Fly. Kite.
Flying...---End Thoughts: 3.53 Seconds--- His eye trailed up after her finger as it shot up towards the endless blue above them. However, he sat in silence. It only made sense... while he now had access to his past memories with his current knowledge... his current knowledge was only just scarcely below the minimum knowledge of a normal person with normal common sense. Or rather:
"...S...ma...sh...?" ['...Wut...']" Here, I'll show you!"Roughly pushing himself off the ground, the boy followed after "her" happy voice. Had he any tact or understanding of social norms, the boy would have probably smiled, even if he had no blooming idea what was going on. As it were, the lanky, red-haired kid followed with what appeared to be a perpetually stupefied look on his face, absorbing it all in at once.
Absorbing.
Absorbing how she took this "kite" and ran with it into the field before encountering a strange man. The boy's eye looked at the fellow dismissively as he recognized him neither as a typical "playmate" for his own violent tendencies or a... "bad" for "her." At any rate, they had thrown the kite into the air and "she" was already running again.
Absorbing."Look! It's flying!"Absorbi...
...
...HOLYCRAPTHATTHINGISFLYINGINTHEAIRASDKRULKDUALSD."Wanna try?""..Sy... Y-Yes!"
Ignoring the small growls of his stomach, the boy began to walk towards "her" slowly at first. This, of course, turned into a full out dash, his head looking up in the air at the small little tinge of color in the sky. It was amazing how the small tufts of wind to the boy could keep something so small so easily suspended so close to the ceiling. The boy's face was nothing short of smiling the fool---which is why he didn't see the rock on the ground and soon-after tripped on it, slamming his chin on the dirt and grass.
Quickly recovering from that as if it were nothing, the boy pushed himself from the ground with a violent abruptness, before slowing to a gentle stop, standing in front of her, flecks of fresh dirt on his face and clothes. His eye still, however, watched with endless fascination as it "kite" danced to and fro with the invisible tug of the air and seemingly unreachable clouds. The boy's eye, however, turned back down to her, as he was practically jumping where he stood, smiling with continued wonderment.
The boys hands remembered their place, though, and gave "her" hands enough space to proffer them to his own or to refuse if she would want. Some latent social norm buried in his head...

It's kind of funny how certain memories just kinda pop into your head, although it really helps to be doing something that's similar to the memory.I remember flying a red kite once, before shifting schools a hundred times, before welll. Any of this, back when we were a family. Dad holding the kite, Mum showing me how to start it, and me following after them like a little lost dog. To be honest, its a little strange, yet at the same time, I can't help but feel happy to be able to experience something like this again.
The brunette turned to look at the stray, smiling away, although a wee bit surprised by hearing him say yes. Although at the same time, it warmed her heart, like a proud parent teaching their child. Sure he was no child, but she was still happy for him. Although, when he fell, Addie turned suddenly, jerking the kite towards her, she'd find he was up already. Face covered in dirt and grass, so cute!
Bright blue eyes looked at the red cat for a moment or two, smiling as she handed the kite spool over to him. When he took it, she'd brush the dirt and blades of grass off his face. Taking a a step to stand at his side, all while looking up into t he sky once more. Watching the kite dance with the clouds, she'd smile again.
All was sunshine and rainbows....
Except for the nagging voice in her head.
It screamed, complained, and whined about it.... His beautiful hair was a mess, such lovely hair should be kept neat and tidy! NO KNOTS! NO MATS! ONLLLLLYYYYYY SILKY HAIR ;A; Pretty and brushed. Sadly, his hair was a mess and needed to be cleaned.... like his clothes. Addie wished to scold him, but she didn't. Instead, the young woman merely watched him, smiling away as she waited to be needed.
"It's kind of fun, right?" Chuckling the brunette stuffed her hands into the pockets of her shorts, straightening up once more and looking to the sky, before closing her eyes and enjoying the nice cool breeze.... Secretly trying to push the naggy mom voice from her head... as difficult as it was.
SHE WAS TOO YOUNG TO BE A NAGGY MOM!

OOC: YEARS LATER: TUVLAN POSTS.Yeah. It Is. "It's kind of fun, right?"The boy looked back, holding onto the kite tightly, face blank for a moment. An invisible force known as wind tugged at the string, at the paper, making it fly. There was some majestic magnificience in the wonder of these invisible forces. The most the boy had done was to read flying a kite from inside a book but... reading and reality were so different.
So, so different.
Looking over to her again, there was this exhilarated, amazed look that had taken over his face, cheeks tinged with red and puffed up from the boy's smile. This was lots of fun.
"Smash."
Smiling, thankful.---
"---SMASH...!"
Without realizing it, the boy had suddenly let go for only a moment, only to have the string fly away from him. Chasing after it in just that moment, the boy jumped out after the string and grabbed on with both hands---but had not properly footed himself, lying on the ground. A particularly strong gust of wind had apparently come... around... and...
...There the boy went, sliding through the grass and the dirt, becoming even dirtier, as the wind tugged at the kite ferociously.
