Astrid was happy to hear that he played an instrument, seeing as how she was finding lately that the art was one that which was dying. Too many students caught up in fighting and being thick headed morons instead of the arts. It was sickening.
With a little shrug she would think over her reply, not sure how exactly to word it without giving away too much about her past. It was not a topic she wished to breech, yet her ability as a violinist was directly attached to such.
"Well I find that I can play in any situation really. I was raised to preform for our clan's council along with other functions in which the arts were to be displayed with pride. As of late however I have not needed to preform at such events to my playing is restricted to late night solo's with nobody around to hear."
She shrugged once more and would note the way his eyes shifted about the room. Yes it was a mess, but not all of it was...The closet, at least on the inside was spotless, her little hidden trove of neatness. Inside would be where her violin rested. Safe from the hurricane that was Astrid.
Letting out a little sigh she would brush her tongue over her lips and then turn to take another drink of her soda, not really focused on anything other than the conversation at hand. It was nice to be able to discuss such things with somebody rather than try to explain it. She hated having to explain why she chose such a hobby. Others just never able to get it really.

Phoenix saw Astrid’s face light up as she realised that he also played an instrument and that she wouldn’t have to explain to him why she chose to play one herself. As she paused for words Phoenix knew that most musicians played because it was an outlet for their creativity, inspirations or emotions. It bred a sense of pride within the core of the being of the person that was playing. This sense pushed the musician to master his or her instrument and learn as much as they could about their chosen art form. Phoenix wondered if Astrid had began playing music for the same reasons that he had.
Astrid’s words filled the silent space between them as she carefully demonstrated her sorrow at how her music was confined within herself and that no one heard it. Also, Phoenix noticed that she had briefly mentioned her past and then skipped around it by not elaborating. Not feeling like the relationship was in a position where he could push for details about her past, Phoenix decided to let the matter slide by as he knew that he wouldn’t feel comfortable revealing his history to her if she asked just yet.
“If you performed at functions at your clan’s request then you must be a skilled violinist. Perhaps we could play a duet another time?”
