Phoenix carefully tailors his appearance to match his mood, feelings and personality. As he possesses a high degree of intelligence he is aware of how important it is for him to maintain a appropriate fashion sense and decorum as many simple minded people in his past have judged him wrongly by their first impressions of his looks and clothes.
Whilst intelligent, Phoenix prefers to dress casually because it allows him to blend in with the everyday crowd with effortless ease. Phoenix cares little for the current trends of fashion, and as such he wears what he wants to, generally he wears a short sleeve shirt that is tight but comfortable underneath another shirt as well as light denim jeans and sneakers. When the occasion is absolutely necessary Phoenix will rise to the event and dress in a formal sense. His most common formal outfit is black business pants fastened around his hips with a black belt accompanied by a square silver buckle, covering his torso and chest is a crisp white dress shirt with the collar undone, depending on the temperature a black business jacket may be added to complete the ensemble. Phoenix is almost always wearing headphones whilst in a casual environment, as his love for music needs constant fuel.
In a physical sense, Phoenix has medium length brown hair that is normally shaped into spikes using wax or more often than not just messy. His right eye is always partially covered by a couple of spikes of brown hair but not enough to impair Phoenix’s visual spectrum. The main feature of Phoenix’s face are his eyes, early on he decided that he loved the colour amethyst and sought out amethyst contact lenses to help his appearance match his personality. Phoenix’s eyes are strikingly clear and allow his friends and foes a brief glance into the unique amethyst ocean of concealed emotions and inner strength that he possesses. Moving from his eyes to his facial features Phoenix has strong, prominent cheekbones that lend him a distinctive look that sets him apart from other men and women his age, Phoenix’s lips are thin but supple and are a delicate shade of red. His teeth were perfectly straight and the colour of perfect white, all except for his canine teeth that end in vampiric points. Phoenix has quite broad shoulders that lead down into his wiry chest and stomach muscles whilst providing his arms with a powerful yet slender platform. Phoenix’s hands are larger than usual and his fingers are slightly disproportionate to the size of his hands. Under all his clothes is a thin frame but it still remains to be an adequate base of muscle tissue that Phoenix has just failed to work upon so far. Phoenix’s feet are above average thanks to his physical height and are a size 15 US, the provide a very large building block for his legs to work upwards from. Phoenix’s leg’s are responsible for just over one half of his height and are only a tiny bit out of proportion to the rest of his lower body, his leg muscles are well defined from his previous prowess as an elite basketball player for his age, however, Phoenix stopped playing when he was thirteen.

First and foremost, Phoenix is entirely apathetic and neutral towards the causes of good and evil, and has been known to frequently fluctuate between the two, usually Phoenix can be found wholly supporting the causes of his friends and allies. As due to his upbringing, Phoenix has an extremely cynical outlook on life that is the by-product of his natural street-smart behaviour, intelligence and assertiveness. Phoenix was brought up to always maintain a calm and concise demeanour with complete control of his emotions.
Whilst possessing a cynical outlook, Phoenix is an extremely trusting and loyal friend. Fiercely loyal to his friends and loved ones, they return this courtesy by providing Phoenix with a constant source of determination and support.
Phoenix utilises his intelligence and control of his emotions to his advantage with his eidetic memory. Phoenix’s photographic memory is a vast resource which has unlimited recall and it allows him to easily pass exams, tests and interviews without study or preparation.
Aggression Although Phoenix doesn’t possess any immense physical stature or strength, once provoked, he will unleash the full extent of his rage that is usually hidden underneath his cool demeanour. Phoenix will willingly throw himself into unwinnable situations to attempt to protect those he considers friends and allies, parallel to this, when Phoenix’s so called friends get themselves in trouble or he has no obligation to aid his friends he will carefully analyse the situation for possible advantages or consequences and decide on the course of action that will benefit his personal agenda the most. Humour Phoenix’s cynical outlook on life combined with his demeanour and emotional control tend to hide the fact that he does possess a sense of humour, albeit it a strange one. Phoenix rarely laughs out loud; instead he allows himself to physically manifest a small yet smug half smile upon his distinguished features for a short period of time.
Phoenix tends to be humoured by people proving him right. When his views upon life are proven correct he smiles at the cruel yet ironical prospect that he was once again proven to be faultless.

Phoenix’s main strengths are his intelligence and street smarts, which when coupled together can make for an extremely dangerous combination. Phoenix’s intelligence allows him to quickly analyse situations and decide the most profitable and best outcome for himself, whether this is shown by Phoenix’s constant surveillance of his surroundings or by his in depth assessment of his allies and foes changes depending on the situation.
Phoenix’s constant commitment to his online RTS games and to chess has enhanced his ability to quickly make the correct decisions and anticipate his opposition next couple of moves to further his own position during a particular situation. Whilst Phoenix was in military school he was constantly bullied because of his height, being 6 ft 2 whilst only being 12 is tough enough, yet even tougher when the other kids throw blunt objects at you. This allowed Phoenix to develop his agility and to learn to dodge fast moving objects that has aided him throughout his life so far.
Although Phoenix’s immense mental knowledge and genius is a great asset to him, it is a double-edged sword, which comes with a tendency to push away potential allies and friends out of habit and out of compulsion. Phoenix also has a very narrow minded approach to making friends or companions, he weighs all of their assets, resources, strengths, weaknesses and alliances to determine whether or not they will be able to be even considered a friend or ally.
As well as this, Phoenix, although being trained in karate in his youth, has neglected his training and forgotten much of what he has learnt. This has led to a disintegration of his battle knowledge and tactics, as Phoenix now prefers playing RTS games to fighting in real life. Phoenix’s development of his mental prowess has been his focus for much of his life and as such his mental prowess far surpasses that of his neglected physical strength.

Chapter I – Enough Is Enough
A thin, bright line of light shone through the darkness, slowly yet surely expanding until the visual spectrum came fully into view and vague colours became distinct images.
Much of Phoenix’s room was the same as it had been the day he moved in almost five years ago, the hard stone walls still instilled the room with a coldness that had nothing to do with the ambient temperature, the windows were still locked from the outside and covered by think iron bars turned brown by the unchanging air, the smell of sweat and fear seeping through the walls from the adjoining rooms remained as it was and the feeling of being defenceless, helpless and forgotten were one and the same to the residents of this establishment. This had been Phoenix’s home for almost five years and on that morning, he decided that his time here was to come to an end.
As Phoenix rolled off the hard mattress and placed his bare feet on the unforgiving stone ground, an alarm could be heard ringing in the distance heralding the students to get themselves up and make their way to the mess hall as quickly as possible. Phoenix calmly walked over to his cupboard that contained his military influenced school uniform and quickly dressed himself. Through the walls he could hear the other boys crying whilst readying themselves for another day of military school. Hardly caring, Phoenix finished dressing himself, tied up the shoes to his boots and smartly opened the door and marched down the corridor. As he fell into step with the other students on their way to the morning meal, he, unlike them, carried with him the ideal of escape and began turning his formidable intellect to the task of finding a flaw within the school’s system that would allow him to leave this cruel place.
Phoenix entered the mess hall to see a few heads turn his way, still seemingly surprised to see a boy of thirteen years of age climbing to a height of six feet. Quickly, Phoenix joined the end of the queue to collect his meal and then proceeded to sit by himself at an empty table to eat to the sound of his thoughts. Whilst eating, Phoenix’s thoughts turned away from escape and towards his old family, the one that had recognised his genius and the same one that had forcefully enrolled him in a military school’s “genius” program that was developed to try and enhance the intelligence of every individual that had the chance of graduating. Phoenix’s hate ran deep for his Australian/British mother and an American father that he didn’t want to remember for abandoning him in such a demeaning and uncaring way. Phoenix’s hands and mouth worked in sequence as he steadily worked his way through his meal of army rations as he thought. After washing down the last of his meal with a mouthful of water, Phoenix stood up from his table, navigated his way through the labyrinth of mess tables towards the cleanup area, dumped his tray and exited the mess hall to the sound of another alarm which signalled the start of the first classes of the day. Whilst en route to his first class Phoenix passed a small class of students from the above year who were easily identifiable as jocks. Phoenix heard snatches of their conversation and allowed his subconscious mind to absorb the information that could be useful later on.
The timetable of a student enrolled at Phoenix’s school was always the same, Martial Arts first, followed by Languages Other Than English, followed by English, followed by Science, followed by Math and then the day would finish with History. Students of different ages were mixed up throughout the different subjects depending on the results of their aptitude exams that were taken at the start of every year. Phoenix’s aptitude exam scores ranked him within the top 1% of his school in all aptitudes except martial arts and thus forced him to attend the hardest classes at the highest level with the exception of martial arts. At this time, Phoenix was learning the basics of Martial Arts, the finer points of Latin grammar in LOTE, Electronic configuration of atomic structures in Chemistry, quartic equations in Math and a somewhat detailed timeline of the happenings in Italy during the Renaissance in History.
Outwardly, Phoenix seemed as he usually allowed himself to appear to those surrounding him, that being a calm and collected teenager with an air of merciless and calculated genius. Inwardly, however, Phoenix’s thoughts were concentrated on other things, such as his inability to shape his daily life and his disgust at being part of a predetermined system that he had no control over. In other words, Phoenix hated the authority and power that others had been given over him. A bitter taste seeped into Phoenix’s mouth as his intellect subconsciously collected data from his surroundings that related to his current problem, a distinct lack of freedom. Phoenix’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of the alarm that informed all personnel of the school that Martial Arts had come to an end. Phoenix gathered himself and exited the gym as quickly as he could with a small half smile creeping across his features, the most useless and uninteresting part of the day had come to an end. Chapter II – Fight Phoenix quickly entered the change room and stowed the practically unused karate uniform in his locker and quietly changed into his school uniform as other students, covered in sweat, trickled into the change room. One of these students approached Phoenix and said: “Yo, Pip. Why is it you don’t try in karate again?” Phoenix stared back at the boy, allowing his cold, merciless nature to filter into his eyes. His eyes bore straight through the young man separating truth from fiction and peeling back his hard, but fake, personality. Although this student didn’t realise what he had done he deserved to be punished. Phoenix allowed the hatred that had previously lay hidden underneath his calm exterior rush to the surface. “I don’t train with you because I don’t see the point in martial arts, my genius can overpower you in a second if I choose to let it.” “You couldn’t overpow…” The student was abruptly cut short in midsentence, as Phoenix had delivered a quick punch to his stomach, breaking his stance and causing the student to double over. Phoenix the used this movement to his advantage by taking an extra step forward with his right foot whilst simultaneously grabbing the back of the boy’s head and then using all this momentum to smash his left knee into the student that had insulted him. The force of the blow altered the young student’s center of gravity forcing the boy to keel over backwards and land on his back, unconscious. A sudden and unanimous intake of breath was heard as the students that had witnessed the three second fight were surprised by the outcome. The quiet, relatively unknown, student had easily defeated the stronger student in a time frame of three seconds. Phoenix relieved the short sequence of events in his head at lightning speed, realising that he had reacted on instinct and as a consequence performing martial arts that were unknown to him. What was that movement he had performed? Something stirred in the back of his mind and the words Muay Thai appeared in his head, shortly following these words was an image of older students discussing the technique that Phoenix had just performed earlier that morning. Phoenix quickly finished redressing himself, covering his weak and undefined chest with his school shirt and calmly exiting the gym. Whilst moving towards his next class, Phoenix thought about how much he hated being reminded of his past life and the parents that abandoned him
The rest of the day passed uneventfully as the different lessons blended into a huge mass of information that Phoenix committed to memory for possible future use whilst not really contributing to the classes or paying them much attention either. However, in between classes, Phoenix’s curiosities were piqued. Instead of being forced to manoeuvre through the tightly packed bodies in the corridors, he as allocated space to walk through. In between travelling from History to the last meal of the day, Phoenix coldly laughed to himself as he realised that they thought him dangerous and were afraid. Chapter III – Expulsion In the silence of that night, Phoenix lay on his bed with his intelligent eyes darting around in the darkness almost picking out the waves of fear and depression seeping through the thin walls of his room. The sharp sound of footsteps suddenly came from around the corner, echoing off the walls of the dormitory corridor. Phoenix already knew that they were coming from him, demanding that he accompany them to the Headmaster’s Office. The two prefects opened the door, surprised that it is was unlocked. “I left the door unlocked. I knew you were coming.” The senior prefect simply nodded and motioned with his hand. Phoenix stood up and fell into step behind the prefects and marched with them to the Headmaster’s Office.
As Phoenix and the two prefects reach the corridor that led to the Headmaster’s Office, the two prefects fell away pointing out the direction in which Phoenix was meant to walk. Briefly, Phoenix considered not going into the office and going back to his room and avoiding this inevitable conflict for a few more hours, however, Phoenix realised the foolishness of the thought and dismissed it from his mind a moment after it had been created. Phoenix knocked on the solid oak doors that barred entry to the infamous office, the sound of Phoenix’s confident knock echoed throughout the dim light and bounced off down the corridor towards the retreating backs of the prefects. Seemingly off their own accord, the doors parted to reveal a well-furnished room with the headmaster himself sitting behind his desk, unmoving and unforgiving. “Phillippe,” The headmaster gestured towards the red chair in front of his desk, Phoenix slowly walked forward and placed himself in the chair, wary of an sudden movements. “I have heard some interesting things about you before, but now you have taken a course of action that I wished you had not. The young man that you defeated this morning after martial arts has powerful parents, subsequently they are profoundly generous in their donations to the school each year, and have demanded that the student responsible for their son’s broken nose and bruised ribs is to be expelled. As of tomorrow afternoon, at precisely midday, you will be escorted from the premises and placed in the care of the local juvenile correctional facility. Tonight, you should pack all your clothes and belongings and then, tomorrow after the midday meal, you shall be removed from this school.” Phoenix looked up into the headmaster’s cold, grey eyes and restrained himself from smiling or showing any signs of happiness; this old man had made Phoenix’s escape a lot easier. “I understand, sir. I shall return to my room and prepare myself for my departure. Thank you for your time. Phoenix collected himself of the chair as the headmaster stood up and walked round his desk towards the oak doors that led to the adjoining corridor. Phoenix gathered his thoughts, preparing himself for what he needed to do. As he reached the door, the headmaster offered his hand to Phoenix and Phoenix completed the gesture by grasping the headmaster’s hand in farewell. Phoenix stepped back and allowed the headmaster to swivel on the spot and push open the oak door. As he spun, Phoenix’s hand shot out and pick pocketed the headmaster’s pockets, returning his bounty to his own pocket as the headmaster turned round. With a short nod Phoenix walked past the headmaster, through the dark labyrinth of corridors back towards his own room, only to stop outside the chemistry labs. Phoenix reached into his pocket and admired the master key that headmaster had kept on his person. Phoenix inserted the key into the door before him, turning the key round until the lock issued an audible click and the door swung open. Phoenix quickly and assertively navigated his way to the teacher’s desk, without flicking on the lights, and extracted a small vial of potassium. Carefully pocketing the vial, Phoenix exited the classroom, locking the door behind him, and made his way to his room for his last night at military school.
