Even for being the so claimed "weakest member of the team" Guy was pretty strong, and it wasn't so much his strength physically that made him as a man. Though rather Guy's dominant feature was his will power. So when Jack called him out on not trying hard enough not giving his full effort Guy pushed harder, and he was fully capable of such as he took off into high gear managing the push ups easily enough. Pushing past the sharp pain in his arms Guy was up again the steady rise and fall to his chest as he pushed through what mediocre pain that stung at his lungs like an unseen virus. Yes this was little to him there was something he liked to call heightened training. It was different from this but built up the same end result was a much improved trained warrior.
The mountains of England had been his home land and thats where he got his training, middle of winter, the cold was his advantage. Guy would thrust up a cooling effect around him despite the heat as he took off running again taking to the 400 meter like it was a piece of cake before resting again his throat burning slightly.

"Good guy keep it up! Last one!"
Jack would yell as he turned into the corner last lap, this was a hard test and in Jack’s eyes Guy had already passed it was time for him to pass it himself. Blasting down the first corner Jack's strides grew to compensate for the longer distance that he had to cover. Accelerating out of the corner into the first straight Jack pumped his arms vigorously, now not caring if he lost guy, this was his test. The test to see how far he could push his body and keep on going, keep on moving forward. Jack broke into the last corner, once again increasing his stride length to compensate for the added distance. He beat the corner, he conquered it, all that was left was to finish, powering down the straight, memories flashed of his races, the roar of the crowed encouraging him to run faster, when he ran he felt like a god. Jack could smell the chalk of the line, flashing by the other track members Jack broke past the line exhausted but he test wasn’t over yet. Flinging his bodying into the push ups, he ripped thirty out. The pain was there but his pride kept him going, contracting and recontracting his whole entire muscle system worked together, supporting each other, no singular muscle was burdened while some worked the other supported. The lactic acid was building up in his arms burning him as if a hot rod was inserted into his arm, his body literally felt like it was on fire, he ran that 400 at his top speed, possibly even beating his best time, he would never know all he knew is he gave it his best, that he held nothing back.
Jack stood up his chest rising and falling, with colossal heaves; the burning sensation through his arms and legs close to being unbearable, if guy was close Jack would cheer for him, encouraging him to give it that last push. His chest hurt, his body ached but he always had enough to help his mates over the line.
"Come on Guy! COME ON!!!!!!!!!!"
Jack would cheer Guy forward, encouraging him to break that barrier, for what ever it was worth Jack liked to think that his cheering helped fuel his team mates forward. Guy would pass the line and Jack would respond, yelling for him to drop, cheering him on as he pushed out those final thirty push ups of hell. Jack would leave guy there walking over to get a drink bottle, coming back he would offer it to Guy, once he had his fill, Jack would take several small sips before handing it back again.
“You did good man.”
Jack would say between pants, slightly disappointed at his own fitness level.

One of the Junior members, ran over to the two males, holding a towel in each hand, Jack accepted both of them, slinging one over Guy's right shoulder for him to use when ever he wanted, not wanting to force it upon him. He brought his own towel up to his face wiping it first before his hair, arms, and the rest of his torso. Looking down at Guy Jack would give off his best attempt at a weak smile before breaking the silence between them.
"You did good Guy, there really isn't any specific area you need to focus on, you have all the basics to be a good athlete, a little more determination along with training and you'll be on your way. You have above average speed and fitness so push yourself and continue to do so and you will see dramatic advances in your overall athletic ability."
Jack would nod, satisfied with his advice to Guy, taking one more sip from the drink bottle Jack would look around the track, he had other duties to do today. Guy had performed at a satisfactory level, he had his vouch to be in the team. Jack would look down at Guy one last time.
"It's been fun Guy, next training's in two days, you should show up we're doing selection try outs, hurdles is one of those."
Jack would chuckle knowing full well that Guy wanted to be a hurdler having over heard his conversation with the coach. Jack would begin to walk away, turning around to wave a quick goodbye to Guy before he carried on his last half lap around the track to where the head coach was.
"He's not totally useless. He just needs some push in the right direction, someone to look up to possibly. All round he's an above average athlete but he's not someone to build this team around although he's only sixteen, he still had what 3 years until he's a college Freshmen and another 4 until he's a college Senior a lot can happen in seven years"
Good Jack, you've shown an foresight beyond that I thought you were capable of, carry on this way and who knows you might be the captain of this team.
"So... this means I'm in?"
Just join the rest of the team
The coach chuckled before looking off into the distance at the small figure that was Guy. Shaking his head not sure whether or not to invite the boy back, he was obviously skilled for someone so young but whether or not he was capable of keeping up to the others was beyond him. Maybe being among men older then him and much more physically gifted will drive the boy to seek greater success or maybe it will crush him. Only time will tell.
