Right... Here's an introductory summary of what this thread is going to be. My laptop, PSP and speakers got stolen in 20 minutes while I was out for breakfast, and the culprit has yet to be caught. We have a main suspect, but it has caused us some complications. And I need your input on this...
Map Of The Place, If It Helps.
The birthday girl's Hazimah and this was her birthday chalet, so to say. Although we only became friends two months ago, we're actually quite close now and I've come to see her as my 'sister' and recently, her family as a god-family too. Anyway, because she had no one to check into the chalet with - as her boyfriend was still in an army exercise -, I went off to meet her at 2 p.m. and we headed to Downtown East (the name of the chalet), reaching at 3 p.m. We checked in, get into the chalet and got settled down. We then played Left4Dead 2 with each other on our laptops. Yeah.
At about 6 p.m., one of her classmates, Nabilah, and her boyfriend, Firdaus (and will be referred to as Fir on this thread), arrived. She's 19-years-old, he's 24-years-old, they've been together for a month and they met at an eating place, getting together only 5 days after they met. Yeah. They came anyway. And because my laptop's webcam was sickly clear, they started using it to cam-whore. That is, Nabilah, Zimah and Fir. And they used my cool green speakers too.
An hour after that, Zimah's other classmate came. Atia, and her boyfriend, Wan. Now, Wan and Fir were uninvited guests, coming only because their girlfriends brought them along. Anyway, Fir soon brought us to another place. Our chalet was at Block F, 1618, and he had another friend at Block G, 1718. Because we had no food yet, Fir offered to ask his friend at 1718 to give us some of his extra food. And voila, we managed to eat dinner.
Her parents came for a while after that, only dropping off the supplies for the party which was to come on Saturday. Then, after they left, Fir took out a bottle of Smirnoff that he bought and the guys started to drink, including me. Fir persuaded to get Hazimah to drink too, but she only had one cup. So, anyway, I drank the most among the three of them, but slept the latest too. Hazimah didn't drink so much and used the laptop to chat with her friend all the way to 6 am.
Now, here comes the first clue. At about 4.45 am, apparently to Hazimah, Fir's phone rang, but Fir didn't answer it. We were not sure whether it was because Fir was still asleep, or Hazimah was still awake that he refused to answer it, but he didn't. Then, at about 5 a.m., there was knocking and shaking on the door. I was asleep already by then, and only taking in what Hazimah told me. Of course, she didn't want to go see what it was, in fear.
The next morning, we woke up at around 10.30, but considering the drunk self that I was and suffering from a hangover, I decided to sleep in till later. However, Fir told me that they were all going out to eat breakfast, so I come along too. Besides, walking it out might help with the hangover. So, we left. And I was about to lock the back door when Fir told me that he already locked it. I believed him, so we left. Wan and Fir were the last ones to leave the room, by the way.
We wanted to go the McDonald's, which was at Main Street, as seen on the map. The Chalet's the one with the elevated swimming pool, by the way. However, Fir said instead that we should eat at KFC, cause the breakfast there is better. KFC, as in the KFC in The Alley. Wan and Atia left before we entered KFC, cause Atia had work and Wan was bringing her there. Nabilah left too, cause she had a school project to work on. Fir stayed behind and we ordered food. Zimah and I ordered first, and when we sat down, Fir told us that he had bought food for his friend over at G1718, and went back first. Zimah and I waited for, like, 8 minutes, more or less, before he came back and we started eating.
We ordered at 11.30 am, and came back at 11.50 am. While walking past Main Street, Fir said goodbye to us cause he had to work. And Zimah and I came back to the chalet and everything looked a whole lot neater. No more wires, no more stacked laptops on the tables, nothing. Total things missing - 2 laptops, 1 PSP, 1 iTouch, 1 speaker, 1 Adidas bag and all the chargers. Total cost? $2,500.
The first thing I did was go to G1718, but the place was empty. I asked the family beside them and they said they left about 10 minutes before. We tried calling Fir but apparently his phone was switched off. We could not reach Nabilah too. So, we called the Police and they came. And we smsed the four guests from the day before about the police and how they needed their particulars. Fir finally called back and he was telling me over the phone how he really really really locked the back door, and Nabilah was acting all nervous over the phone too.
So, like, we gave it to the Police anyway and yeah, I was crying my ass off at this point. So, the Police checked for forced entries but found no clues as to such. The main suspect then became Fir, cause despite no solid evidence, everything pointed towards him. Oh, and the Police found out something interesting too.
Fir's an ex-convict.
And he's so desperate for money he actually asked Nabilah to sell her handphone so that he can pay off a debt he owes his friend.
Yeah, that's all the details that leads to the case. Now, here comes the consequences.
I can't leave the house on my own cause Fir is apparently in a gang, and he knows where I live. And he's still out there.
My dad got so pissed at me he said that he was not going to buy me a new laptop. My school semester starts on April 19, so I have approximately a month to get a laptop, or my dad will enlist me to the Military for my National Service. And my phone call with my dad that night pissed me off too.
He said that I never listened to him. Well, I can argue that he doesn't listen to us too. Whenever we want to tell him something, we have to say it through our mom cause he'll either ignore or scold us, no matter how important it is. Hell, he half-assed his way through my enrollment and I had to do the thing just the night before.
He says that I have no sense of responsibility to my family. Fact: He had an affair with this woman three years ago and quote, "If she does get a job in America, I'm going with her!"
He says that I expect too much from him. Well, he's the one who scolded me everyday for not studying, when he's never home to see me study.
Yeah...
Oh, and I have to quit dancing too, if I wanna continue going to school. I dunno what's the link to the stolen laptop to dancing, but yeah.
Now I feel real fucked-up.
Oh, and here's another fun-fact about my dad. He promised to get me something, no matter the cost, for every A grade that I got in my 'O'-levels, from Cambridge, and I got As for 7 out of 8 of my subjects, the odd one out being Chinese. That is, A for English, Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics, Pure Chemistry, Pure Physics, Pure Geography, and History. When he found out about my marks, he completely forgot about the promise itself.
I figured that it was because we were having financial problems, so I cut it down to $150 per A1 and a $100 per A2. Which is considerably low, considering the importance of the examinations here in Singapore. Hell, my friends all got $1000 for every A they get. And I'm asking for just 1/10 of that amount (which is considered to be the right amount for an A in O-levels). But he still refuses to give it to me.
Yeah, my life's totally traveling downwards now and it won't be going up for a while.
